I know purebred pups can be born with unacceptable coloring for the breed and are usually destroyed (or at least was the practice 50 years ago). This dog does not look like a cross and I've just never heard of or seen a 'white' golden retriever.
Color Rich, lustrous golden of various shades. Feathering may be lighter than rest of coat. With the exception of graying or whitening of face or body due to age, any white marking, other than a few white hairs on the chest, should be penalized according to its extent. Allowable light shadings are not to be confused with white markings. Predominant body color which is either extremely pale or extremely dark is undesirable. Some latitude should be given to the light puppy whose coloring shows promise of deepening with maturity. Any noticeable area of black or other off-color hair is a serious fault.
Color may be any shade of golden, but it must be rich and lustrous. Body color that approaches cream or red is undesirable. Some latitude may be given when judging a lighter-colored puppy whose coat shows promise of darkening with age. Feathering may be lighter than the rest of the coat, and lighter shadings extending upward from the underbody are typical and acceptable. These lighter shadings must not be confused with white markings. With the exception of graying or whitening of face or body due to age, any white marking, other than a few white hairs on the chest, should be penalized in proportion to its extent.
Serious fault: Any noticeable area of black or other off-color hair.
That dog's ears are a yellowish color to me,a nd I'm willing to bet that the pup darkens to around 'yellow lab' color as it gets older, though it will never be the rich golden color most of us associate with golden retrievers.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
On the other end of the spectrum, my parents had a wonderful golden when I was growing up. He was was a very dark red, almost mahogany. It was such a pretty color, like an Irish Setter, but you don't see it much any more.
My golden, Shadow, has white on his chest and also has white on his paws...he is definitly not of any standard but he is a cutie anyways....Poor guy had a rough start though being tied to a semi trailer and abandoned with his favorite toy.
