My cat is about 7 yrs old. She las always eaten Friskies, which I KNOW is a horrible food. In the last two years, since getting my dog, I have learned a lot about food and so am trying to switch her food. She will NOT eat anything I give her besides her stupid friskies. I mix them together for a while and then try to do just the new food, but she won't eat.
I have tried Chicken soup for the cat lover's soul and Natural Balance (low Calorie). I have heard that Felidae is quite tasty..... advice? She likes the fish flavors - tuna / salmon / etc...
Olive Thanks you!

They do say those brands are like McDonalds for pets. But I have had cats that led long and healthy lives on ordinary brands that you can buy at Wal Mart. You could try Purina One. It's not one of the high end foods, but it's a step up. Purina has high standards for their pet foods. I switched my dog to it (from IAMS) and he loves it and his coat is healthier. I use Royal Canin for the cats and they love it but there are so many different formulas I'm not sure how they will like it when we graduate to adult Persian food so we may be shopping around too. I also tried Science Diet Nature's Best and they hated that. Same thing. They pushed those pieces out and just ate their regular food. Just check the nutrition label for meeting AAFCO standards. They set the guidelines for pet nutrition since it is not regulated by the government like human food. And check the various petfood websites and your local stores. Sometimes they have sample bags so you're not commited to a huge supply the cat may hate. They are like people, you aren't going to like something off the menu just because I do any more than your cat is going to like what somebody else's cat likes. Good luck!
I actually have/had the same problem, my cat WILL NOT eat anything but Meow mix - NOTHING! I mean, he will not eat for days and will meow constantly. It sucks, I've tried every other brand, tried mixing slowly, tried new food straight and he won't eat. But, I finally stopped worrying about it. My vet says he is one of the healthiest cats he's ever seen. He's 5 years old and therefore been on meow mix for all five years....
i just switched my dogs and my cat to canidae and felidae here is their website its a 5 star food with human grade ingredents my pets all love it since your cat is used to "junk food" it will take a while mine didnt eat for a few days but the vet said that was fine that she would eat when she was hungry. good luck
