i have a 9 month old boxer puppy and i want the best for him his name is ozzy and he is highly active as well as i am. i have feed him a few different brands of dog food, nutro and nutro max, purina one. pedigree.. but with the purina one and the pedigree his stool is pretty soft i guess you would consider it runny?? and wow can he stink up the place.. so i was wonder all money aside what is the best dog food all around for my boxer puppy(Ozzy)
I personally really like Pro Plan Selects, but you are changing your food around way too much. Boxers are known for sensitive stomachs, food allergies, colonitis, runny stool and lots of gas. The price of being beautiful.
You shouldn't be trying to make Ozzy a 100 pound Boxer though, that is WAY too big. Boxers have enough issues with out adding hip and joint problems to the mix.
Out of the oods you listed, the only halfway decent one was the Nutro Natural. Pedigree, Purina,Nutro Max.... some of the worst foods on the market... they all contain some kid if not multiple grain products, and are artificially preserved....these ingredients can cause gas, shedding, runny stool , allergies, you name it.
I suggest feeding a good prmium kibble.... look for a brand that has NO corn, soy, wheat producrs... the food must have meat as a first ingredient (not meat by-product, but actual meat or meat meal) also, it should be preserved with mixed tocopherals (a fancy term for vitamin E)
I personally LOVE D*ck Van Patten's Natural Balance, but there are quite a few great kibbles on the market today...
I never feed puppies puppy food. It is like feeding a newborn baby steak and potatoes. Feed the puppy a good quality adult food, to prevent the puppy from going to quickly, which can cause structural damage. I like Premium Edge Chicken and Rice, no soy, no corn, no wheat, first ingrediant human grade chicken.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
he was on so many foods because he stayed at my inlaws and they feed him the pedegree and stuff when i wasnt there or when he ran out... the only thing i feed him is nutro natural choice puppy... and i posted it for a couple of reasons.. first the vet said science diet and others said other doog foods would be fine so as a dog lover i wanted to see what everyone else thought another reason is that the inlaws feed their dogs beniful and of course dogs love that stuff but i didnt think it was good for them at all... so for the record he is on nutro natural choice puppy formula.. from what i understand this is great puppy food.. so thanks alot for all the comments and any help is highly appreciated
Nitro max is a good food. You need to stick to one food or he will continue to have the "diahhrea" or runny stools.
Personally, I feed Diamond Puppy. They love it, their stools are nice & solid, coats are shiny, and their weight is consistant. I do not have any 100 lb Pit Bulls, their more like 50-60, but I do have a 110 lb Rottweiler...:)
As for the Diamond food, I also feed it to my cats. They eat the crap out of it, have nice weights also, shiny coats not dull, and less shedding I have noticed.
JMO on the food though, there are many other great brands, but the Nutro Max is a good choice.
