I have a horrible duck weed problem. It came attached to some clovers that were ordered, and has taken over the entire top of my tank. Weekly I take out as much as I can otherwise I wouldnt be able to feed them. Does anyone know of a solution to get rid of this stuff, besides trying to scoop out as much as I can??
I love duck weed, personally. I get it whenever I can, but it never lasts more than a week or two in my tank, because my fish love to eat it.
I've seen some tanks where the tank is just *covered* with it, it never gets that bad in my tank because my clown loaches go to town on it. I don't think there's any permanent way to get rid of it that won't be detrimental to the other plants in your tank. It thrives on bright light, so I suppose you could cut back on your tank lighting, but the rest of your plants would probably suffer for it. I'd probably just get a fish net and skim it off the surface once a week to control it.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
I've been taking it off the top with a fish net, but it multiplies so quickly its back to were I started in no time. It gets so thick I can't feed the fish unless I take it out. We have endlers in the tank and cherry shrimp so neither one of them eat it and the light is crazy on the top of the tank so they probably love that, but can't cut back on it cause it would affect the other plants that need the light. I figured there was no other way to get it out without harming the rest of the tank, but thought I would ask anyways.....Thank you for your post though.
ok so this is what you should do. to start, shut off the light. all plants love light and will generate new "starts". another thing to do is to do constant water changes. keep at the scooping on top of thewater fot the duck weed.
i hope this helps ya, if not PM me and I"ll help you even more.
