I am looking for an allergy formula for my cat. Dry food only. The vet wants him on a food without fish and thought maybe Wellness made a simple solutions formula for cats like they do for dogs, but they dont. They have been on Wellness salmon formula and it hasnt helped Samie's condition. (really extreme hot spots to the point he licks himself raw, dry skin, dandruff, and loss of hair)
Natures Variety formulas all have fish, I'm not a big fan of the Natural Balance allergy formula, first ingredient is peas. I'm not happy with Timberwolf's recent change in ingredients (for the worse). Any ideas?
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a question about this too.
I was feeding Pedigree when I first moved, because all the bills were being prorated for the first few months.. then I switched back to Nutro Natural. I'm now feeding lamb meal and rice little bites. I've noticed Duchess is itching, and biting.. but there are absolutely no fleas. She also has a bald spot on her back. It showed up right after she had her shots, though. So I attributed it to that. Is it possible she had no reaction whatsoever on Pedigree... but is having this reaction to the food that is higher on the list? I'm confused. How do I find out what kind of allergy she has?
Ah thanks, I must have missed the Eagle pack. The doc wants to try an alternative meat with him (duck, venison, etc) instead of the usual chicken, turkey, etc. See if that helps. Its really hard though, finding allergy formulas for cats!!
Halo, it takes about 8-10 weeks to see if a dog is doing well on a food or not. If they are having reactions after that time, it could be the food or something in it. Or it could be the change of weather, dust in the house, other pets, etc. Its hard to know for sure.
