I have a 9 year old yellow labradore. Yesterday morning she woke me up really bugging to go out. Usually, she waits for me to get up and then i take her out. She peed 4 times outside with urgancy. Which is very abnormal for her, she usually only goes once. I noticed that there was a little bit of blood mixed with her urine (She peed on the snow). She is not overly thirsty, maybe not drinking as much as she usually does. She is as active as usual. She still has little drops of blood in her urine, can someone help? She was spayed when she was 2 years old, so i know its not from her going into heat. thank you.
Sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection, but it could potentially be something more serious (i.e. bladder or kidney cancer).
If it is a UTI, the treatment is simple--antibiotics. But a UTI is extremely painful and can lead to kidney infection and permanent kidney damage if untreated. You should get her to the vet for a urinalysis ASAP, as in right now--take her to a emergency vet if necessary.
Edit: If you can reach your regular vet, they may consider writing the antibiotic prescription sight unseen, if you describe her symptoms and make an appointment to bring her in on Wednesday.
