Please help, Bling is 4 yrs old. He was fixed as a kitten. We have 7 cats he isthe dominate cat. The other male I have is also fixed and submits to Bling. 1. I am using "Good cat" in his drinking water 2. I have installed electric diffusers in several rooms that emit cat pharamones 3. I have take him to the Vet, no bladder infection or other problems were found 4. We have tried Amitriptyline syrup prescribed by the Vet, it's such a fight to get it in him, it takes 3 adults 5. I have 8 cat boxes in the house with 2 different types of litter, 3 different styles of boxes 6. I have food in 3 different places 7. Water in 4 places 8. I have toys, scratching posts, and climbing furniture, they even have a window that looks out onto 2 bird feeders I can't live with the spraying and I will not make him an outside cat, he's ruined all the carpet and 2 leather sofas, I really need some help.
Your major problem is probably the number of cats you have, but if he's healthy, I have no idea how to stop him. Have you tried all the various repellants out there? Good luck, I'm having the same problem right now, with a neutered 1 year old male. I'm afraid he's about to be placed in another nice home, since he not only sprayed my whole closet, but peed in the middle of my bed, which has a feather bed on it. GRRRRRR!
I just read a post that said something about having a box for each cat. Honestly, I think there may be something to this. I have 2 boxes in the house and I notice the boys use one and the girls the other. However, if the boxes are not changed everyother day, they start fussing and leaving little presents. To sum it up, cats seems to be like us, they want a clean potty....when we walk into a bathroom that is gross we are disgusted. I'm guessing they feel the same way. Try putting a box in the area where the kitty is spraying and change the box frequently.
