I'm not at all against educating. Abby your posts are so darn long it is hard to get though. I am in rescue to clean up all the puppies that breeders are putting out there. I don't come here to judge, I was just making an observation. I don't think being so mean is going to solve the problems though.
Abby's posts are notoriously lengthly, lol. If she ever typed a one liner, I think I'd pass out...hehe.
Fact is there was alot to be said about this post, abby was very informative and helpful. She was trying to educate and help the OP, so your high horse comment made it look as though education is a bad thing.
So glad you do rescue, that is awesome. We do rescue as well, it is a tough and heart breaking thing at times.
I would say though, that cleaning up the mess the breeders made is a bit vague....you are helping to clean up the mess of the irresponsible breeders.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
As someone who has been burned by irresponsible breeders and irresponsible pet owners alike I work very hard to try and save others the pain and heartache I have been through. Someone is going to get "put down" in order for me to share the knowledge I have and I'm not one to sugar coat things to save one persons feelings if it means that other people will think what they did was okay.
(I tried to make it one line lpn... I can't do it!)
I apologize for being long winded... But I don't see anything wrong with having high standards and wanting the dogs that are being bred to all be high quality on every level.
On the one hand you have a reputable, careful, conscientious breeder. Someone who breeds for the love of the breed, who takes careful measures to improve the breed and the lines she produces. Someone who is willing to share information on what it takes to become a good breeder.
On the other hand you have someone who supports herself and her family by breeding and selling mixed breed dogs. The same breeder of a breed with known life threatening/altering ailments who doesn't deign to dip into the profit margin to complete testing. Someone who might face having to and remove less than desirable dogs and bitches from the remove less than sound dogs & bitches from her lines. Fewer dogs & bitches, less puppies, less puppies.
Hard decision as to which is the better to listen to.
Ali, you are one scary individual. You are somewhat educated and intelligent, yet despite overwhelming medical proof you persist in refusing to admit that perhaps there are improvements you can and shouldmake.
You profess pride in doing things your way and damn the consequences. It's a shame that you allow your greed to supplant any ethics you might otherwise have had. Since you view you dogs as your business, your livelihood, you should realize the necessity of reinvesting profits in order to improve your "product".
What is even more disturbing is your predilection for undermining those who might be helpful in educating others.
Abby, that's what happens when you try to cover all the bases~grin!
