I am still babysitting my sisters Yorkie babies. The female (who is in heat) and a little over a year old is constantly turning circles or running around things in circles? Is there any particular reason for this? Does it have anything to do with her being in heat? I took all 3 dogs (my Toby included) the other day for a walk. Boy was that funny. They had me all tied up and tangled in their leashes!! Anyway, the little girl did the cirle thing the whole time. She would walk a few steps and then do a circle. This went on the whole time. She has her nose to the ground most of the time too. It's not because she needs to poop either......What is going on? IS something wrong with her?
I think its just a habit. It can be broke. It probably started as a nervous reaction and just continued, now its an obsessive compulsive thing. My Yorkie spins when he wants to go outside, or when he gets really excited.
But we were ON a walk and she still did it. She does it when running all around in the back yard too. She isn't bored out there. She is very excited and smelling everything. She is not my dog (I'm babysitting for her) so I don't know if this is an everyday occurrence for her or something since she came to stay at my house. Oh well, she is going back home on Saturday. I will ask her Mommy about it. Thanks.
Did she do that when she was with your sister too? Because it might just be anxiety over being left behind. If she's not used to staying at somebody else's house and following a new routine, maybe she is just a little stressed. Animals also act wierd when they are in heat. I would just make sure you talk to your sister about it when she gets back.
I once saw something on animal planet about that and they said it is sometimes a medical condition, something in the brain. It wasn't anything fatal. Just some kind of imbalance or something. The dogs on there were pretty sad to watch. If she isn't doing it constantly or most of the time, I would chalk it up as just a behavioral issue to.
Thanks everyone. Yes, it could be from being left with me. I have never watched her before. I have definitely changed their routine. Their routine was....well....they pretty much didn't have one I don't think. Don't start on me.......I know....I know....LOL!! They have alot of free run in my sisters house although they are not potty trained.....and they don't get outside to run around much there because she doesn't have a fenced in yard. They have not been disciplined at all. It's a good thing they are so small......if I told you all the naughty things they do........you guys would crucify my sister...anyway, I'm just trying to help out some by maybe giving them some structure and routine and get them trained a bit. I am concerned with the circle thing though. I will definitely discuss it with my sister when she returns.
