Is this a young pup? They teethe quite a bit when their baby teeth are changing over to adult teeth. I have a 4 month old miniature daschund, and we are experiencing lots of chewing. I make sure she has LOTS of chew toys available. You must be diligent, watching the pup every second. The minute you catch them chewing on something inappropriate, take it away, firmly say "NO!" and hand them the toy that is appropriate. You must do this consistently and patiently...it WILL stop eventually. Meanwhile, puppy-proof the entire house, the less temptation, the less chance they will grab something they cannot have. Good luck!!!
I used bitter bite on all the furniture and shoes when Gracie was chewing. I also kept all kinds of chew toys around. When I 'caught' her chewing on something she shouldn't, I would yell "no" and then give her something that was appropriate to chew on. After a minute or two of chewing the new object, I would praise her for doing the right thing. During this time, she only destroyed about two pairs of shoes and one chair :) Good Luck!!
hi there. puppies like to chew & bite. its natural. i learn it the hard way & realise that it is better to let them chew & excercise them regurlarly until they are more tire than us...read this in a book... its about excercising together ...until then the puppies will continue to chew...& it is ok..just let them chew the 'right' thing..happy raising puppies together..
Bitter Apple spray works pretty good, spray on things that you catch the puppy chewing on that it shouldnt be. first chap your hands and say no loudly short of in a scaring way it sounds mean but its not hurting the dog and just gets there attention. then spray the object. make sure to have plenty of dog toys and training is going to be done to teach the dog. keep at it jack's are sort of hard headed.
Our little yorkie is 7mo. old now and she is still chewing on everything, including us. They are just babies and you have to remember Jack Russell's are hyper besides. Ours is never still a minute.. With granny being as old as she is it would have been better if she could have had a more laid back dog. (and not a puppy)
mine did that the first few months because he was teething but i just got him a lot of toys.. i mean like a lot he has his own toy box so there not every were and he knows to chew on them now.but before anything wood or sneakers my hand.
