our kitten (9 months) prefers the laps of mum and dad (dad doesn't even like the cat) to those of me or my brother. she often spends the nite with me or mum and dad but never my brother. my brother is unhappy because he thinks mittens doesn't like him. any ideas?
That's just how cats are. They have their own opinions and ideas and usually they stick with that. I have three and two of them will go to anybody but one is just a momma's girl. Bailey has only gone to any of my friends or visitors one time. For some reason she liked my friend Erin and she climbed in her lap and stayed there. And my cuddliest sweetest cat, Allie, doesn't really like to sit in anybody's lap but if you pick her up you can hold her like a baby for hours. She doesn't care who you are. And Chelsea is the youngest and she's rather play than cuddle with anybody except at bedtime. All cats just kind of develop their own preferences even if they are all raised at the same time and treated the same way. He shouldn't take it personally, but your brother could try spending extra time playing with her or being the one to feed her or give treats if he wants to develop a better bond with her.
