We currently have a litter of APBT puppies. This is not our first litter, though it IS the first litter we are considering shipping. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations. We have tried to do our research and have seen a trend as far as which airlines to use (and which airlines most breeders frequently use) and have read the shipping info listed on the site. However, we are still feeling a little uneasy. Any info, or advice would be great appreciated.
The reason I guess we feel uneasy is just that we haven't done it before. I understand that it's our right as breeders to opt not to ship, but some of the potential buyers for our puppies from past litters have inquired about shipping and though we felt they would be wonderful homes, we weren't sure how it all worked and steered clear. We have been discussing it back and forth and I guess I just wanted to get some feedback from people who had experience with shipping. Above all we are concerned about the puppies and that's why we are hesitating...we just want to make sure it's safe. I know people do it all the time, but we just wanted some personal experience advice.
I have never shipped a dog, but have had all three of my Frenchies shipped to me here in Washington state. Three different airlines, and three different locations. Missouri, Oklahoma, and one came from as far as Moscow Russia. All of them arrived healthy and in good spirits.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
With the breed of puppies (sadly bc I think they're some of the best dogs in the world) you have I'd be a little leary simply because you wouldn't be meeting the buyers in person and there are a lot of sick people out there. Other than that I think they'd do fine but certainly don't do it if you're having trepidations
My personal opinion, is I would not ship that breed to anyone without meeting them first. To many people tell a really good story, and fighters know just how to get around. I would be very scard shipping APBT pups to anyone i have never met. I love the breed.
On the other hand, I have had all 3 of my mini aussies shipped to me. 1 from Mich. 1 from SD, and 1 from AZ. They all arrived happy and fine, a hair tired. All were shipped on Northwest. They did a great job.
Thank you for all the advice, I really appreciate it. I still don't know where we stand on the whole shipping issue. I'm glad to know that puppies are being shipped and arriving happy and healthy, but you are all correct that with the breed it's a different situation. We will still keep thinking and at least have some more advice to consider.
