Well we found homes for 3 of the six puppies that where left. I was so heart broken I hated to see my babies go. For those that never read my previous post. My husband and I bought a house out in the country about a month ago. The same week we found a stray dog and nine of her puppies. We took them in have been taking care of the since. We kept the mom Heidi and one of the puppies Kodiak. My mother in-law took one and my brother in-law took another so it left 6. We have three left to re-home. And it hurts I became very attached to all of the puppies and against my husbands warning named all nine of them. For all those people that breed and have to go threw this process over and over, I have gained an evenn deeper respect. I sure know I could never go through this again.
I know Sadie was one of my favorites. My husband wanted to keep a male puppy since already have 2 females. So we are keeping Kodiak. But I found I wonderful home for Sadie. She went to a young couple. I miss her horribly.
Thanks bunches for the update! The pups are adorable & while I lost my heart to Sadie, too, it was only until I got to Kodiak's photo - absolutely gorgeous coloring! And what a wide assortment, color-wise!
I hope you were able to find a vet in your area to help you out considering Heidi's plight.
You know, my heart breaks when I think of what might have become of Heidi & her pups but I find I have to think of that because it generates such warm feelings when reminded that there are still very wonderful & very special people in this world like you & your hubby. -- :-) You did good...
Dogs have taught me all I need to know about life, love, loyalty, & laughter; & (heartbreakingly), loss & "letting go" of a loved one as well. God bless ‘em…
Thanks for all the feedback. I feel like I accomplished something good in helping them. I know I could never volunteer at a shelter or the any adoption organization I get to emotionally involveld. But with Heidi and her pups I feel like I made a difference. I did not get a chance to get them shots. I tried, but just could not afford it even with the discount. I lost my job the day before I closed on my house. And haven't found anything yet and my old company is dening me my unemployment benefits. So money has been super tight. But the money from selling the pups will be used to get Heidi fixed. If anybody has any Idea what kind of mix Kodiak is I have an open ear. He looks completly different from his siblings.
Need to keep this very short as I am having severe disconnection problems.
What you have done for Heidi and her pups is wonderful. BUT, please also keep in mind that you really need to have Kodiak neutered too when he turns about six months. People with male dogs need to remember they are as responsible for "unplanned" litters as the people with an unspayed female.
Rascal and Monte both remind me of a Rott or GS. I know Heidi the mom is German Sheperd mix. But as you can see all 9 have different looks. Some lab, GS, Rott and Kodiak reminds me of Australian Shepered maybe.
