Reno News Gazette writer Mark Robison put it best: "PETA and the Humane Society of the United States lobbied to have all of the pit bulls killed. These organizations really need to be shamed for promoting death instead of life for rescued animals; their opposition to no-kill efforts is simply inexcusable. "
I posted this earlier, but will again... Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is here in Utah and they took 22 of the dogs. You can read more about them here: http://www.bestfriends.org/vickdogs/ They are doing amazing!!!
"Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else."
I hate to break anyone's rose-colored glasses, but HSUS and PETA have the highest kill rates of any rescue/shelter. In fact, I'm quite sure PETA does not run a single shelter. Contrary to what many people believe, the main objective of both organizations is to eventually have NO companion animals allowed at all, in addition to no animals being used for meet, medical research, etc.
P.S. Most local shelters with "Humane Society" in their name have absolutely NO connection with HSUS, so please support them!
I'm glad all this good press is coming about. Finally something positive in the publics eye. The media plays a big role of what people think about Pit Bulls/fighting dogs including the misconceptions which are hard to break when people hear or read about it. Fighting dogs are not too much different then any other Pit Bull. Any Pit Bull can be dog aggressive so they should be treated as individuals. Just the same as any other neglected rescue nothing more and nothing less. If they have a bad or dangerous temperament then of course they should be PTS, if they have a good temperament then they should be adopted out to a responsible owner.
