it's really cold where I live, I mean Siberia cold. I usually walk my dogs and go hiking for exercise but it's insanley cold these days! (Today we have wind chill warnings, I'm not just a wimp:)I play fetch indoors but I think they need more fun and exercise. Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas I haven't thought of yet!
hello, well the only thing i could come up with is if you have a treadmill....you could put the pooches on their leash turn on the treadmill and let them have a little indoor run...nothing too fast so it won't hurt them but enough to give them the exercise they need.... hope i helped!
Where do you live jr1012? I'm in much the same situation, so cold that I have to physically force the dogs to go out and do their business. Yesterday it was - 45 with the wind chill. I've figured out a few games to play, involving repetive throwing of toys for them to fetch, hiding kongs with meat in them, chasing them, but it's definitely not the same as if they could go and run at top speed as far as they want to.
37 below windchill in Upper Michigan, but with the wind gusts of up to 45 MPH, it feels colder than that. Right now my ankles are bright red, I went shopping without longer socks on, just the footy type and now I am paying for it.
Brrrrrrrrrr. I have newspapers spread out in the kitchen, the dogs went outside the door and wouldn't leave the back porch. I don't blame them. I told them to go ahead and potty on the papers. All 3 have the extremely short muzzle (a Shih tzu and 2 Japanese Chins) so the air has virtually no time to warm before going into their lungs. Poor babies.
Bassettlover, I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh at you, but you went out in that kind of cold, with no damn boots? I can just picture your frost bitten ankles. I can't wear shoes here, there's way to much snow. I hope they're just really cold, and not frostbitten.
i live in Wisconson on the Minnesota boarder, pretty much the twin cities. I feel bad like Im neglecting the pups, they're so energetic! not to mention I need the exercise too! Can't wait until this month long cold snap is done
