My 7 month cat Tiger scratches around her ears and above her eyes a lot. She never goes outside so I really don't think that she has fleas or mites. I also give her Frontline Plus every month, just to be on the safe side. I took her to the vet to be spaed on the 25 of January and they said that her ears looked fine, that there was no sign of mites or fleas. I just don't want her to be uncomfortable. She doesn't constantly do it, but more frequently than I guess I think she should. Didn't know if anyone elses cat out there ever done this?
No signs of mites or fleas? Make sure the next time you see him, you tell him that you were unaware that some mites cannot be seen with the naked eye. I wonder if he could have taken a skin scraping for you? There are many conditions that your cat could have, plain old yeast infection (different in cats!), otitis externa, which in English is inflammation of the external ear, and cheyletiellosis, which is just about impossible to see, caused by another disgusting microscopic parasite. If you have to go back and see this vet, ask him about these conditions, and TELL him to do a skin scraping. The fact that you've been giving Revolution would not help some of these conditions, it is for fleas worms and heartworms. Good luck, and let us know how your cat is. By the way, how old is he/she?
My youngest was scratching all the time and her ears kept looking dirty. All the signs of mites but she never goes anyplace to get mites. The vet put a sample under the microscope and there was nothing. She just seems to produce a lot of crud in her ears and it makes her itch sometimes. But she seems to be getting better. But just make sure your kitty's ears are clean. Just use a cotton pad with some baby oil or even water and clean the outer areas. Never use a Q tip and don't touch anything inside.
Thanks so much for all of the help. Next time she is to go to the vet, I will have them to do an ear scraping and look at it under the microscope. I keep her ears cleaned with some solution that I bought at the vet's office. I think that she will be fine, I just get worried.
But anyway, my baby will be 7 months old on February 19. Tiger is spoilt and very jelous. She is our baby. We have no childeren as of now, so she is the baby! She loves my husband to death. She is very attached to both of us. She likes her alone time, but she also wants plenty of attention.
