You name it, I've read about it...regarding our Yorkies chronic vomiting and diarrhea. We have a brother and sister combo, 1.5 yrs old. 1 month after we brought them home, we began having the horrible problem of diarrhea and vomiting. Not constant, but cyclic. We have spent endless amounts of money on various Vet treatments - wormings, fungal, accumpuncture, special diet, antibiotics. At one point our little boys Lipase was >6000. Our latest find is that they have some severe food allergies. Shunt problems aren't the issue, so could this be a case of over breeding? Just seeking some thoughts from others who may be experiencing the same thing, and what they have found for treatments.
Be very watchful for changes in behavior. We recently had taken in a Mastiff on rescue. Very swet loving boy. Though he was terribly neglected and wasa train wreck when he came. We had him a few months, got all of his issues resolved....though we were on the recovery! The only lasting issue was the vomiting. No pttern to it, sometimes several a day, sometimes only once every few days. Lipase was off, amylase was off, WBC, RBC...you name it. The labs finally leveled out where they should be, but te vomiting didnt stop. Made an appointment at the vet for a barium swallow. He suddenly became very sick and lethargic...within minutes out of the blue. He was raced to he vet, kept overnight. The next morning he was looking worse, they were preopping him for exploratory surgery to check for an obstruction....he passed away while being prepped and they could not get him back.
Autopsy revealed nothing to explain it.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
