There is this cat that seems to really like my house, even though i have two dogs. The cat seems friendly, she was just sitting at my back door pawing to get in! I really don't know what to do. I have this feeling she's not a stray but I really can't bring her in my house. Any advice?
Have you asked around to see if the cat belongs to anyone? Put up some signs, at your pound, cat shelter, and vet clinics. Spread the word about the cat, and see if anyone claims her. In the meantime (it looks like you have snow at your house) bring her inside and possibly keep her in a separate room. Let the ads run a week or two and if no one claims her, relinquish her to the cat shelter. (while you are waiting if you have the ability to do so, make sure she is spayed and if not, get her spayed. and do your "good deed" to the kitty world :0) )
I wouldn't mind her at all (I grew up with cats and love them) but my one dog, the terrier mix, goes nuts when the cat is around. he throws himself at the backdoor and barks, if I let him out to potty he goes right to this certain spot in my yard and gets all tangled then barks... I just hope someone didn't loose their cat. I don't think the cat would be easy to catch, as my husband was outside the other day and she wouldn't go near him. I've posted something on the closest animal shelter's website. So I guess we will see! I can't believe she sticks around with my dogs here.
Oooh, I didn't realize it was causing chaos for your dog. Have you asked your neighbors if they know who he belongs to? Usually if someone in the immediate neighborhood owns a pet at least one or 2 neighbors know about it. If you could find the owner, you might could tell them that their kitty is adorable and you think it's really cool but that it causes your dog to freak out.

well, the cat hasn't been around for a while. I'm not sure if she went home or moved on to find food/shelter. While it's better for Otis,I'm actually kind of sad. I grew up with cats and the cat I had since I was 5 died not too long ago. I just hope the cats ok. I really wish people would keep their cats indoors, especially in town.
