Young boxer limping on one back leg. Help

Our boxer 3 years old started limping a week ago for a couple day, then it went away. Now its back again, he seems to get better if we take him for a short walk, and when he is excited and running out the back door into the back yard, you cant tell that it hurts him. He does not wine or cry, just keeps it in the air as much as he can. My guess is that he slpped in the back yard "we live in Mn" or he hit his foot or nail on the deck steps coming in at a fast speed. I'm guessing that it is a muscle pulled or a spaine. We have pain pills from when he was nutered, gave him one last night. he seems to sleep well.My question is, could it be anythin other than a pulled muscle or spain, all bones move well and he does not make any sound when we move his leg parts. Thanks for any ideas you may have.....
