Well, I have an almost-one-year old doberman pinscher. We had him neutered about 8 weeks ago, and he is more hyper now than ever. I have never had any of my male dogs fixed, but the vet told me it would take approximately 6 weeks for his body to stop producing hormones, and he should be more mature/calm after the 6 week period. I'm not worried, I love my big puppy. He is well trained, and pretty well behaved, just more hyper than he was before he was neutered. Any ideas? Some of my other dobes did not mature until they were 2 years old or so, just wondering if any one has had a similar experience with neutering..?
I have had the same experience. My dog was neutered close to 3 months ago and is more hyper now than ever! The vet said that gaining weight and decreased activity levels only occur if you let them (ie. feeding too much or not exercising your dog). As long as he is healthy and happy, I am fine- but I wouldn't complain if he calmed down a bit!
