My family and I rescued a 4 year old English Bulldog from a poor home last week. I took him to my vet who told me that he is going to need "Soft Palate" surgery. He told me that he would have to refer me to a surgeon and it would cost around $3000. We can not afford that so I called a Bulldog rescue here in Southern California. The guy I spoke to gave me a number for a Vet and said it would cost $400 to $500. I had previously called multiple Vet Hospitals to try and price the surgery and the lowest price I was told was $1500. I am waiting for a call back from the Vet that I was referred to. What area do you live in? If you are anywhere near Los Angeles I can give you the information for the vet or even the rescue so you can get references.
Also, if anyone else would like that information, feel free to email me or contact me on this site.

One of the Bullmastiffs I rescued needed his nares opened wider, excessive tissue removed from the soft palate and I had him neutered at the same time . My vet did the surgery using a laser and charged me $500. This included pain meds and pre-op blood work. This was about five years ago, so price would probably be a little higher now.It was awesome watching the surgery!
I rescued a purebred English bulldog and she is needing help with her berating, especially in summer. Soft palate surgery was recommended by other owners but our vet has scared us by saying it's a major surgery. We've heard there are simpler, more gentle surgeries using laser. Any advice and recommendations for southern California would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
