I am a new bulldog owner. I really researched the breed before I purchased her and I've run into some conflicting information as far as training collars go. She is 10 weeks old and I'm beginning to start leash training. I've read that choke collars should not be used on bulldogs due to their fragile necks but I've also read that they are ok due to the fact that they have so much muscle protecting their trachea. I'm leaning towards a no pull harness for leash training. If any of you more experienced bulldog owners have any suggestions on the type of collar to use, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you!
Leash training is a process...sometimes a slow one depending on the dog, lol. If you start the pup now with a basic buckle collar, a choke will likely never be necesarry. Some prefer to go to a harness, and that is fine as well. I have nothing against choke collars, I use them myself, but they are only effective when used properly, and also used properly will not cause injury, but unless experienced, I would not suggest them. I would suggest working slowly with the buckle collar first and see how he/she does.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
