Almost any dog that is not a companion breed is naturally protective of home and family. You dont want to do anything that makes them aggressive, it can be hard to handle later. Not socializing them as a pup will make them naturally reserved with strangers. Just remember, you may have to lock them up when company comes over. The dog will also get used to imed. family not extened that comes over for holidays.
You also have to remember both breeds have a ton of health problems, and esp. prone to hip displysia(sorry bad spelling). and the DDB Can have horrible breathing problems. I show my mini aussies at rare breed shows, and spoke to a DDB breeder/owner/shower. Just check and double check breeders, and do your homework.
I hope you get a wonderful happy healthy puppy, and have many wonderful years loving it.
