I found a stray cat back in October, at my place of employement. I didnt have the heart to just leave her so i brought her home. She is WAY differnt from my other male cat i have had for 6+years. Ugg is very easy going cat, never gets on counters and is basically a lazy orange cat. Now Gabby is the stray and she is CRAZY i tell my husband no wonder she was homeless, of coarse just joking but this cat is the devil cat . She is into everything, gets on the counters and pushes things off, breaks everything, pulls the keys off my computer, swings from my house plants like shes part monkey and breaks everything, she climbs on everything, to the top of the frig to the top of my cupboards. she yanks down the blinds on the windows, and scratches my leather furniture, she attacks and this is no lie, she attacks my dogs and wrestles them down to the ground and i have to save the dogs and also Ugg from her. When shes in this crazy mood which is 23 hours of the day she will attack my legs or bite on me when i go to pick her up. Not bite to draw blood but what is going on with her? at night she is out in the living room trashing stuff, we hear stuff being knocked around and pushed off tables or counters. Ugg never acted this way even when he was younger, never climbs on anything. He isnt a very playful cat so when Gabby attacks him and yanks him to the ground i feel bad and go rescue all the animals from her. Were hoping that getting her fixed will calm her down. My husband is constantly complaining about her, she gets down stairs and attacks our pet rabbit. I think realy she just wants to play but she is a rough cat. Gabby is about 11 months old from what the vet thinks and i dont know if her breed makes a differnce but she is a pure bred seal point simease cat. are simease mean cats? very active? weve tried the spray bottle to keep her off the counters and it doesnt work. ya for a second she gets down but right back up there. when were cooking she is right up there and wont stay down. Why is she like this? are cats like this and i got lucky with Ugg being a lazy cat? I do think she has adhd if animals can have this. But at night she is cuddly and does cuddle in bed with us once she settles down and will lay on me on the couch and sleep. and she cuddles in with the dogs and sleeps , but she just gets CRAZY when she is awake and i dont know what to do to train her to stay off counters and the sinks and everything. Nothng is safe with her around. Please help, also sorry so long i just am hoping for some advice on what to do. theresa
sounds like a typical kitty to me lol. I think some cats are just naturally more high strung. If it is really bad they do have crates for cats that you could put her in with some toys and her litter box. Sorry I'm not much help other than saying that each cat has a different personality.
this sounds just like the stray cat I rescued and my parents now have. The cat is crazy (this is what my mom tells me) and attacks her feet all the time and wrecks everything in their house. Their other cat though, is very lazy and the opposite. I remember when we got him as a kitten, and he was a typical kitten, but never to the extent that the rescue Ellie is like. Maybe it has something to due with them being a stray at one point. Or maybe these cats are just really hyper:)
My vet said that she was some ones pet, i worried when i found her that maybe she was wild. BUt she was very friendly and wanst afraid at all of my 3 dogs and new right away about the liter box. I dont know why some one would drop off or how ever she became homeless i know no one was looking for her, i did look for signs and read the newspapers and my vet checked for a chip. shes a very beautiful simese cat, but just crazy, i guess im just use to Ugg my orange cat being lazy and never doing anything that Gabby does, It was funny at first but now i wanta pull my hair out, she is into everything, she kinda seems like a mean spirited cat tho some times with her attacking the dogs, it could be play but i have to save my maltese pup from her. no one wants to play but she does and will yank them right down to the ground. lol guess i just have a crazy cat, i am hoping having her fixed will calm her down to. lol i can always hope
This is my first day on the site, and it's great. What a wonderful place to get practical advice. I volunteer at a feral cat shelter, and we had a male longhair who terrorized the other cats in his "room"(FEL positives). Out of pity for the other cats, he was put on kitty Prozac, which helped a great deal. The cat's hyperacitvity is probable why she was dumped in the first place, poor girl. There may be other calming meds-alternatives to chemical, too. Ask the vet for something to calm her down, until the hormones get out of her system after spaying. I have a male siamese mix neuter, and he's a prowler. After a neighbor told me he was a pain at night, I confined him to a room at night, because otherwise he drives us nuts politicing to get out, just as you describe.
