it isn't quite as easy as that. I use it on all my dogs, and we use it at the grooming shop I work at. I think it is worth every dime. It does a great job on plaque, and if used from an early age, some dogs never need a vet dental. As far as older dogs, it is great. Depending on the amount of plaque your dog has through it may not be perfect.
I usually put the gel on a finger toothbrush. then I primary do the back teeth. The dog can not eat or drink for 1/2 hour before and after, so I do mine before bed. You can just rub it on with your finger, but you will need a toothbrush or cheese cloth to massage the gums once or twice a month.
The spray is a bit easier, but not all dogs like things sprayed in their mouth. I perfer the gel.
I just received Petzlife gel & spray yesterday & applied it to my girls last night....My Sage is 6 1/2 & her last Vet cleaning was 2 1/2 yrs ago & now her plaque has returned, so I am hoping that this product works to prevent another anistetic cleaning on her. Shylo will be 2 in September & has the whitest most perfect teeth ever, so I am using it on her now as a preventive.
You mentioned that once a month you need to wipe it? I usually brush their teeth 3 to 4x a week. Am I not supposed to do this now that I am using this product? I am hoping someone else who is currently using this can give me some tips. I also give it to them in the evening so they dont eat or drink 1/ hour before & after.
I have this product the vet told me about. the vet showed me how to use on daisey who is 23 weeks old. I was told to use it once a week and just rub on gums and back off teeth, but daisey is still wanting to nibble and bite so i am having a hard time with it. So it has only been done 2 times.
I actually brush their teeth everytime I use it. You just don't have to, but if they are already used to the brush, I think it is much better. I am sure you will love it, The biggest problem I have is remembering to do it lol. Keep me updated.
Thanks Illusion, I will do that. They don't mind having their teeth brushed at all, so this will be easy. Your right about the timing though, it's hard to take the food & water away for the hour needed, but I will make the extra effort to do so.
The bottle I have says 1/2hr before, and 1/2after. I do it at bedtime. I pick up the water, and then they have their teeth done and it the crates they go. it made it easy for me. If your dogs sleep with you, you could always shut the door at night. Good luck
