i have a 10 week old lab little girl...she has done great crate training...as in she dont cry anymore...i have had her 2 weeks now...but what i am wondering is that she is still peeing in her crate...not pooing ....i let her out at about 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours...she will start whining..and i go in and she has went in her crate..she will still go outside and go more...but at night...she does not wake up at all...and so her bed mat is quite wet in the morning...i have gotten her up at night to go too...but she is still wet in morning...how long will it take till she can hold it longer?about what age? thank you
my 12 week lab goes to bed around 10 and still wakes up 3-4 to go outside. I have a newborn baby agian...but I just remember, eventually my baby slept through the night so will my lab in time..good luck
I just adopted a three month old boxer mix named buddy. He's a great dog but because of past we have some issues to work on. He's being crate trained and doing well but sometimes does urinate in the crate. hopeing in time that will stop.
I have been told the general rule is that a puppy can hold it one hour for every month of its age, so a 2 month old puppy can hold it 2 hours, etc. until 10 hours, the maximum an adult dog should be asked to hold it. So about 2 hours is about right on target for your pup. The best you can do is try to catch her before she has an accident instead of waiting for her to whine, but she won't be holding it through the night for a little while yet. Also, make sure her crate is an appropriate size for her, if she can mess in one corner and then avoid it by sitting in another corner, its too big - I made this mistake with my boy. If she is stuck sitting in a mess if she pees, then she will be more motivated to keep her crate clean.
