I am Jennifer. I am a preschool teacher with an 11 year old diabetic cat, Keenan. 3 months ago I adopted a beautiful black Chow Chow named Nellie which is how I found this site as I was doing research on the breed. She is a tremendous dog (a little stubborn at times) but I love her as much as I love Keenan who unfortunately wants nothing to do with Nellie (although he has stopped growling at her). Thank you to all who have given me advice around the 4th of July.
Work keeps me very busy and it is nice to come home to a purring cat and a dog that is always happy to see me.
Hello, I live in Arkansas and I am owned by 4 four leggers of the canine kind. Cricket yorkie 12yrs, Kutter Aussie 13yrs, Slick yorkie 12yrs, Higgins (alias Biggie) yorkie/pom mix 8yrs. My husband and I have been married 29yrs. I am a dog groomer by profession and enjoy being able to take my dogs to work with me everyday. I love this site and all the info it presents.
Hi! I live in Upstate NY. I am a teacher in the inner city (starting up again soon!) I was a special ed( emotionally disturbed) teacher for 10 years before this. You would be surprised at the similarities between teaching kids and training a dog. I just got the puppy I have wanted for a long time (was waiting for a yard). He was worth the wait! I do not currently have any children to adore so i'm afraid the poor pup has more affection than he can handle. He is a very smart and adorable boston terrier/pug mix. He is now a few days away from 6 months, house-trained (although I still watch it), neutered, a graduate of puppy kindergarten, currently enrolled in puppy agility (a rock star at this), and scoring a B+ in polite leash walking (A when treats are generously given). I have only owned one other dog in my life and I am really trying to get all the info I can. This site is very helpful and there seem to be some experts out there to help in times of need!! Wish me luck.... I am certainly enjoying this!

Hi I'm Susan from Quebec,Canada. I am married with four boys and two furbabies. My children were all growing up and moving out so I was almost an empty nester. So it was a great time to get a new baby. So we adopted Zoe a 8 week old female fawn boxer. Things went really great and she was so full of life Well so full of life we didn't have enough energy to play with her long enough. We took her to parks and she wanted so much to play with other dogs but not every dog was up to the exuberance of a boxer. My neighbor told me that there was four boxers at a shelter. This is a kill shelter so the next day I went in to see. Well there were only two left and I saw Melvin and fell in love. He was 9 months old and the saddest dog I ever saw. He looked up at me with his soulful eyes and I was a goner. He was sooooo skinny and so introverted. I couldn't take him that day but promised him that I would be back the next day. I told the owners to keep him for me. Well fast forward Melvin is happy and healthy and Zoe and him are inseperable. He is just the greatest dog. They are the love of my life and everyday make me laugh.

My name is April, Moscow ID. I have three beautiful children that are sadly growing up. My husband decided that I needed a new baby and brought me home the sweetist little guy I could ever hope for. After many suggested names we settled on Bacon. He is a 12 week old Pomchi. I was worried about barking, potty training, etc..., but Bacon is extremely eager to learn and is a very obedient pup. We chose crate training which has saved my carpets. He has also mastered sitting, no bark and we are working on "stay" and "come". I'm new to this site but I would greatly appreciate not hearing "if you love your dog have him neutered". We did not get Bacon for breeding we got him for my midlife crisis:-D

Hi! I am Jody and live in WA State. We adopted KaNuk on November 5th 2008. He is a purebred Alaskan Malamute and we love him so much. Housebreaking is trying at times but I know we will get through it. He is about 5 1/2 months old now and weighs 50 Lbs. He is Black and White with a perfect "bandit" around his face. He is a bit submissive but pushy at the same time. A little "sassy" too. He loves his evening walks in the neighborhood and loves our cat. (A little too much) I hope to have many years with my boy.
My name is Amy. I live in Milwaukie, OR. I have 2 australian shepherds. One black tri named Bronx and one blue merle named Valkyrie. My husband is 30, but I don't know if he qualifies as a pet or a child sometimes.

Hi all, my name is Tia and I am an "expectant mom" of a Chocolate Lab. Our baby is due to come home in 2 weeks and we are so excited! We had a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for 11 years. She crossed the rainbow in June of 08 due to complications with cancer. My family and I are now ready to open our hearts again to another doggy. We also have 2 cockatiels named Sugar and Piper. Our family consists of 2 active sporty boys ages 9 and 11 and a teenage daughter that is 15. We live in the country with oddles of land and close to the water, perfect living for a retriever! We are interested in training our new Chocolate to be a therapy dog and would love any and all advice on this subject. I am a teacher and want to be able to bring the dog to school with me as a READ dog.
