One of Madde's pups that is now 5 months old, has a round spot on the top of her head that is loosing hair and getting bigger. Could this be from stress? Or what else? Her dad is a Xolo (mexican hairless dog). So Im not sure what to think. I dont think she is getting the care she deserves and I have been looking for other people that could take her if and when I deside to take her back. I am on the border line of taking her.
Is there a possibility that the sire's genes are coming to the fore, and she's going to have patches with no hair? Of course, demodectic and sarcoptic mange must not be ruled out, either, or a whole host of things. If you're thinking of taking her, take her, and head straight for the vet. Good luck.
Demodox causes the same thing but is usually found around the muzzle, cheeks, and under the eyes. Weird that its on top of the head. Early generalized demodex signs?
If it looks scaley, (bumps like the side of a fish) and its the only spot; I would wait for it to heal on its own (might take up to a year), but if more show up you may need topical treatments or even dips... $$$
I'm not sure about Mexican hairless dogs though. Maybe they're supppose to go bald @ 5 months?
Ok. I took some pictures of her today. What do you think it looks like. I am going to take her to the vet cause I think its time for her next shots anyway. Ill ask him about it. I also told the kids that I am going to take her back if they dont giver her better care. So I will give them a little longer.
She's freaking awesome. She's looks happy to me, I don't know why you would take her away from someone. That spot really shouldn't be there, so its not genetic. Looks like Demodex to me. I would wait it out. But... you can get a scrape from her vet and "ASK" for topical cream, vets sometimes won't treat demodex until it's been infecting the pup for longer than a year. It'd be a shame if that hug magnet has that bald spot any longer.
Well she is a puppy, arnt all puppys happy looking and free spirited? I dont know. It seems like she is always in her crate. And she always smells bad cause she pottys in her crate and the kids dont wanna clean it out. So she stays in a dirty cage. They tie her up outside on a chain and she gets wrapped around the swingset and lawn chairs and it stuck and they just leave her. She is also really really hyper which i think is from being in her cage to much and the fact that she is a puppy. But she goes freekin crazy running around jumping on everything and people. Maybe I am just being Over protective. I dont know. what do you think. I dont know what goes on the rest of the week. Im over there at there house like 2 times a week and that is what i observe.
