i have a 5 month male old boxer..he has gotton into a bad habit of walking up to my male dachshund and wanting to play at all times..biting at his ears and so on..but my doxie hardly ever wants to play and is almost like he just wimps up to nugget..and goes and hids under the couch...my female doxie does does not play at all with the boxer either..my male is 6 and my female is 4..all three dogs are inside dogs...how can i keep him from bothering my male doxie at all times..also he jumps up on people when they come in! i will tell him NO and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't???????
i did not mention also that i am a stay at home mom..well my daughter is in first grade..and now i pretty much stay home and clean and do the "house-wife" stuff..i do spend time with all my dogs..we go on walks and they all play in the backyard together..this behavior happens more on the inside when one of my doxies are in my lap or when i am cooking in the kitchen...my nugget sits in my lap also..he might be jealous..i don't know??
Your Boxer is only 5 months old. He is a puppy. You have to interact with him often and keep very firm on the training you give him. Praise when he is good and train when he is not. It is sad both of your Doxies does not wish to play with him. This is very confusing to a Boxer pup. So he will continue to try to get them to be his buddy. Boxers are very optimistic and will just keep plugging away. Did you realize your Doxies were anti-social before you brought home your puppy?
Training: You have to be consistant. Boxers jump on company. It is what they do. It is up to you to teach him not to. And teach your company. Boxers get smart over whom will correct them and whom will not. So you have to train both the humans and the dogs at the same time :)
Yes, Boxers get jealous over their humans. That is common and very normal. Be kind and persistant in your training. Give them a toy or a chewy to occupy them for those few moments you wish to do something else. However, you cannot expect them to stay away from you for very long. Boxers want to be with their humans 24/7. It is a part of the breed I adore :)
