i had a cockatiel for 6 years. i raised it my self when i was 13, my neighbor's bird had them and i got attached to one i went there every day and fed him my self and taught him to say a lot of things, for a small bird they are really smart. we'll my brother had quakers and baought them a big cage bigger then mine, then he gave them to my nana because they like her a lot and bit my brother so he got a cockatoo and needed a bigger cage. so i took the old cage and my bird loved it till one night i woke up to feed him and the perch was on the ground it must of fell when he was on it sleeping and he probly had a heart attack. it was horrible that was two months ago. i miss him very much and i never thought id miss all the noise. i want another one but they really look the same and i dont no if id be sad. has anyone ever bought a bird that they had before?. it probly sounds weird but i cant look at my aunts cockatiel because it reminds me of cricket.
am sure no matter what anyone will tells you, you will miss your pet no matter what. i had a similar story with a pitbull, someone gave her to me and i had had her for a few months and my family and i had grown attached to her, when one day she ran outside the gate after a cat and got hit by a car. I though that there was no way for me to get a similar dog, i didn't want anything to do with pet's period. But at my younger sisters insistance my mother agreed to get a new one.
My family went to pick one up and i had no othr choice but to tag along, long story short we got two, and to everyones surprise my sisters dog has grown up to look alot like Jada, my old dog :)
to tell you the thuth i don't mind, since she has her own personality and we all adore her. and in a way having Kiara has hleped me to move on from that tragic day :)
so i think you should also let go and get a new pet, getting a new pet doesn't mean you forget the one that has passed on, it just means you get a different companion to keep you company and make u smile and remeber from time to time the good times you had with the other one, but in a good one . . . .
yah i did when i was younger. well i just learned from it dont put a cage near a window because at night i do cover him but not tottaly and i think it could of been cars going by and i think he might of gotten scared and freaked out also the perch wasnt secured it was a new cage and i didnt no i thought yanno you put it in and it looked normal but yah im now have fish a cat a cat on the way and a dog i am going to wait to get a bird
Every bird is different. But lets hope for the best. He might make friends with the other two. If you can do activities to include all of them then that would help them to hang out together. Remove their food and bring them all together for a meal. But be sure to have 3 bowls so they don't fight over the food. The point is to get them to hang out together. Offer there favoriate food when they are hunger. Talk to them and help them to feel secure.
