Bentley started acting really strange last night, He isnt acting like his self and im really worried that something is wrong. He acts kinda like his body is sore and just lays around and isnt active, he always comes when called but he doesnt. he is eating a treat when giving, and goes potty out side. He isnt licking my face like he loves to do every time he gets a chance. He kinda acts in a way like hes so tired that he cant sit for long and normally sleeps with me but didnt.
My husband thinks his body is sore because we went on a walk the other day and because it was winter they hadnt went for a walk for months, but i dought this is the cause. He will lift his paw when sitting but we cant see anything wrong with it, he dosnt limp or baby it just holds it up .
hes not throwing up, but just not himself. im really worried something is wrong. what can i do??
can dogs have the flu? well like dog flu and just have days they dont feel good or is there a reason or a sickness that could be causing this?? should i just watch him and see if he gets better or should i call the vet and try to get in today? of coarse the vet always says well we cant say over the phone bring him in and then it will be oh hes just tired or not feeling good . and i didnt get any info more then what i already know. Has anyone elses dog acted this way ? what should i look for to know its serouis?? and he does need medical help/? please help.... im really worried. being a pet mom you just know somethng isnt right and he isnt his self. not even close
Is he eating his food, and drinking water? Does he have a temperature? You said he's going potty, have you noticed if his bowel and urinary functions are normal? You said he lifted his foot, is there something in between his pads, making him miserable, maybe? If everything else is normal, a call to the vet would be in order, but they would need to do a blood panel to really diagnose anything properly.
You said that he went for a walk. Did he get into anything on the walk? Eat anything off the sidewalk? Did he leap around like a nut and hurt himself because he was so happy to finally be on a walk after being cooped up all winter. You said he is holding up a paw. Try feeling him all over with gentle pressure and see if anything makes him cry out. It is possible that he just strained something. My coworker just went through this with hers because he was running around all crazy at the park on his first Spring walk. After a lot of money on tests it was just strained muscles. And Max slipped on some ice this winter and was limping around for a few days but it was clearly just one sore paw and he was fine in a couple of days. It did make him stay in one spot more than normal though because it hurt to walk. But if he isn't eating or drinking normally, is throwing up or has diarrhea then I would call the vet as soon as possible. Dogs can get something like the flu but they would usually have vomiting and diarrhea not just laying around like that. I don't want to insult you with this but I have to say it just in case. Some people don't know. Do not give him anything for pain unless the vet tells you to. Tylenol is very bad and aspirin would be dangerous if you don't know what's wrong because it slows blood clotting.
