Strawberry squished a puppy. She keeps laying on them. I keep moving her. I know in the night she will lay on them so I am gonna take her out of the pen with them. She is not to fond of feeding them I have to make her. I got bottles and formula so this is my question:
It is so hard to try and hand feed the puppies, I would strongly suggest leaving her with the pups an letting her do it. You would be better off laying with her for a few weeks then taking the chance of aspirating a pup!
If you don't feel comfortable leaving her in with them, then separate them, just set your alarm for every two hours and put her in and let them nurse. Just sit with her for the nursing. Then go back to bed for two hours. You will definitely need to monitor them for at least a week or so. Hand feeding is definitely alot harder to do then getting up every so often..
I've pm'd a couple of people who will hopefully be able to give you some expert advice. They are all very good. Some people have an email sent to their regular email addesses when they get a pm, so hopefully somebody will pm or respond to this thread soon for you.
Anything you need help with let me know, but I only have so much advice, as I've only gone through one litter.
Thanks everyone. I called the vet and he said 5cc but I could asperate the lungs so They are going to see him today and yes as some of you said to do I take her out of the box and every two hours I put her in and hook the pups up to her. She is starting to want to stretch out and feed them on her own a little more. The vet said as long as I keep making her that soon she should except them as hers and will want to feed them and I think she is. I got scared about asperating their lungs so I backed out of the bottle feeding. She dont like being away from them so maybe thats a good sign.
