so yah my one year old bugg is my first male i have ever owned. he lived with me at my moms and would pee on everything. i dont no why i havent gotten him fixed yet but its finaly happening friday. i no its not to much money but i had to do it my self. so sometimes i will drop him off at my moms because she misses him and tottaly loves him but she just got a girl puppy. i guess everything shes touched toys blankets he pees on. he even still will lift his leg on some things when im not looking will this change when he gets fixed? and also i herd of this spray that you spray on things and they wont pee there or somthing.. help thank you
There is a good chance, that now he is a year old, he has already learned he can do it. He will still lift his leg. There are several options, you can scrub everything with natures miricle and try to get the smell off, or there are not Male wraps. They are very similar to the old fashioned female wraps but go around the belly. You would put a womens pad in the wrap, and he can lift his leg all he wants. He pees in the pad. You just change the pad several times a day so he doesn't devolup a rash. I use them on my breeding males. At night they go in their crates and the wrap comes off. You really can leave it on 24/7 he has to have some air time. The last option is treat him like he is a young pup again. put him on a leash, and leash him to you. Correct him when he goes to lift his leg in the house, and praise him when he goes outside. good luck
He MAY still do it, but there is an equally good chance he will stop too! Try not to be discouraged, a year is still a young dog-lot of things to learn yet. We got Tim when he was 3, and he was not neutered and lifted his leg on furniture. We got him fixed asap and he never did it again. We too had a female in the house, though she was spayed. Either way, neutering him is going to be beneficial. It will help with any dominance issues he has and will generall make them less territorial. My BIL has a dog that is 2 and he wont neuter it, even though it pees all over, because he is firmly convinced it wont help at this age. He is sucha dummy. last time my daughter stayed there, Toby came in and peed on HER in bed, because she smelled like Sophie, our female, who was not yet spayed as we had just gotten her from the mill. Made me so mad. I hope you are getting it done asap, and might add, please keep him away from your mom's female until he is-not all dogs show really visible signs of being in heat at first, and you wouldn't want any unfortunate accidents to happen!
ok thanks i so hope he stops he knos its bad and lately only does it on everything the eight week old puppy touches. my mom works at a vet so when me and my dog lived there he would pee on her shoes and stuff well today hes getting neuterd probably like this second and i cant wait. has any one herd of a spray that you spray on stuff that they pee on and they dont do it there?.. my friend was telling me about it but i forget whats it is called. well thank you ill let everyone no if he stopps i hope so, so then he can be out of his play pen when no one is home.
You can also try putting a belly band on him. My older boy wears one at night as he sometimes has accidents. Recently I dog sat and the little one was peeing all over my house!!! I put the belly band on the dog (luckily same size as Toby). The first day he continued to mark, but it only went in the belly band, the second day, with the belly band on he completely stopped doing it.
when he was a puppy i tried putting a diaper on him lol like a real kids diaper and i cut a whole for his tale and he chased his but around for like 5 minutes then he finaly ripped it off.. is it anything like a diaper?..
They sell special pads that go in them, but I simply use sanitary napkins (a lot cheaper). I also make my own bands; all I use is 4 layers of flannelette and put elastic on each side and velcro to fasten it.
so i got him home yeterday he looks so happy with the cone on his head lol. we'll when i brought him out he only peed once he usualy will go five times everywere marking his territory so i think thats a good sign. he also hasnt gone in the house once. but its only been one day. im crossing my fingers!!. so i asked around about the puppy bands my friend uses them with her puppy and she let me have a couple to try if my dog goes back to his ways also i found the spray stuff its called pee-pee and i havent used it yet but im try everything i can. thank you guyss
Yay! Happy to hear that. If he does continue marking for a bit, dont worry too much though. It takes awhile for all of the hormone levels in his blood to settle down, so he might still ahve some "urges" for awhile. Last dog we took to get neutered, he tried to mount another female an hour after he came home!
haha.. well i feel so bad he has to wear the cone hes always putting his paws over his heads and he trys to play and he has a hard time picking up his toys lol its cute hes also gettin along better with my new cat he always jumps all over him and now the cat scratches his head on his cone and they nap together its so cute!
