WOW- never in a million years would i of ever thought that a cat could drive you insane but its happened! Gabby, the stay cat i found a few months ago is in heat and driving me crazy, driving everyone crazy! all she does is cry all night and make this werid purring/matting call thingie- I dont have the money right now to have her spayed. 200.00 at my vets and work being slow for hubby right now i just cant forsee having the money any time soon. Is there any meds or anything you can give a female cat to calm them down? My male cat is neutered and Gabby doesnt go outside at all so i didnt think waiting to have her spayed was a big deal since there is no chance of her becoming pregnant. This is the first female cat ive had and my GOSH what a nightmare. I know it isnt her fault but everyone in the house hates her right now and no one can sleep- I stay on the couch so i can yell at her to stop it, even tho that helps for a minute and shes back at it. Very stressful. Why do they cry like this???? she isnt doing it at the door wanting out she does it no matter where she is. Hubby put cotton in his ears last night lol i dont think anything can help . very tired and irrated with her but again i know it isnt her fault but is there anything that you can give a cat to calm them ? how long will this last? days weeks ? i hope and pray that i can have her spayed before she goes into heat again. anyone know what i can do? yes i know have her spayed but i dont have the money right now.
She's the one that is siamese, isn't she? Gosh that crying must be awful. My Nikita was part siamese and she went into heat once before I got her spayed. It was SOOOO annoying. I'm not aware of anything you can do to relieve her "needs". But you should check with local shelters and/or your humane society for a cheaper spay. I know the CT Humane Society has a vet that does it for about $75. My own vet was $308 so even $200 is a bargain compared to that. And I have 3 females with a fourth coming soon! Good Luck!!!
If I were you Tapettyjohn, I would crate her at night, and possibly put her in the basement, or garage, if it's warm. At least you'll get some sleep. Don't forget she'll keep coming around in heat, if you don't get her spayed;so if the spaying is not going to happen in the near future, you'll need a plan of action, or she will drive you insane.
A cat goes into heat more often the longer she goes unspayed and unmated. Initially she will go into heat about once a month and the heat cycle lasts 7-10 days. So figure, 14-21 days non-heat, 7-10 days of actually yowling heat. But the longer she goes unmated and unspayed, the more frequently she will go into heat. I've heard of some unmated cats going into heat every 7 days. 7 days in heat, 7 days out. Rinse, recycle.
You're in for a good time.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
Wow min I never knew cats went in heat so often. I never really had cats that were mine only wild ones that run around outside and they do multiply fast.I thought they were on a cycle close to a dog.lol
I think that is you have decided to keep her, contacting your local "Friends of Animals" or some other agency that offer low cost spay/neuter would be the answer. It's usually around $25.00 for dogs, (not sure about cats). You apply, send the required donation and they send you the certificate with a list of vets who accept the certificate.
It would certainly make life easier on one and all, including the cat.
"Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful".
You won't get any relief until she's spayed or gets pregnant.Cats can come into heat about every 2 weeks I've seen.I was in the same boat my female kept coming in heat but could not get pregnant so I had her spayed. When you won a pet you must expect to have some money to take care of them.I've been strapped for cash too but luckily some vets will give me options since I am a breeder one of the benefits of this business.Check your local humane societies ours will give out vouchers after proof of low income it come down to about $30 for females and $20 males when it is abround $130-$200 to have this done.
