in jersey there is a society called the new jersey ghost hunters society. they are having a meeting tonite and a friend and i are going to go. maybe i will ask what their opinion is on animals and ghosts.

Oh, Scout, I would LOVE to hear what they have to say! Bet it will be pretty much what many of us think, they can for sure SENSE the extraordinary, but is sight actually involved? Enjoy yourself and let us know what you find out.

I don't know about dogs but I heard cats can see ghosts I will look into it more and get back to you

I'm not sure about dogs, but over the years I've had cats that will just stare at the wall or ceiling very intently, but there's nothing there!! It's almost like they are staring at *something*, but I can't see what it is.

Very interesting topic - I'd like to find out more about animals and the paranormal.

First let me say I made a boo boo, it's theshadowlands.net.

Scout, go to the message board and click on the link where it says mods. There's one for Anna. She posts fairly often. I know I read somewhere that Dave was out of town so that may be holding you up. If that doesn't work let me know and I will send them an email and see if it will help.

LOL~ talk about digging around in the "vault"! You're right, this was a very old, but very interesting thread.

I can still remember my astonishment over GG's statements on Druids being something out of a fiction novel~ then again, it's a rare thing for me to incite someone who "normally doesn't cuss" to do so!

Once again, I stick by my original belief that animals are far more "in tune" with nature and can see, hear or sense things we humans have (through the centuries) come to ignore in our nature.

For those of you old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, "I DO believe in ghosts, I DO believe in ghosts..." there is a heck of a lot more "out there" than we can understand.

I thought I was going crazy. I clicked on the post, read some of it, then looked at the date. I thought to myself,,What the heck is going on here. JULY 13TH 2004.
Please lord, Don't take me back in time......lol

Anyways....My mother in laws house is very spooky. Years ago my husband saw a little boy sitting on his dresser. And he saw a women that was wearing overhauls[sp], had blonde hair to her shoulders, and looked real mean.
Every once in awhile you can hear like a bowling ball rolling on the floor upstairs. Freaky thing is, there is no upstairs really. It's like an attic, but the floor is not level. There are beems that devide the floor up,Hard to explain. You shouldn't be able to hear something roll straight across. So many stories I can tell you about this house. Yes they still live in it for now. They have lived there for about 15 years, and will be moving next summer. I can't wait.......lol

I myself believe in spirits, ghosts,,,and even BIGFOOT....
I am sure there are other strange scary things out in this world that we don't even know about.

I believe in them. About 20 yrs ago, when I lived in PA, I went upstate to my boyfriend's sister's house. This place was not in the best of shape & very old. I had to use the bathroom really bad, but I could not go up the steps leading there. I was terrified. I heard a sharp inhale (not mine) & bolted out. I refused to stay there the night & stayed at the nearest motel.

Another story, when I moved to FL 10 yrs ago, we stayed for 5 months at an older rental home while the new home was being built. In the middle of the night, at the same time each night, my Westie would stand up in the bed with her hair on end & growl very deeply for a few minutes & looking toward the bedroom door. She's never done that before & didn't do it again in the 12 yrs we had her.

I'm a Christian, but I believe in spirits, both good & bad and that pets can definitely sense them.

Actually India, part of the point we had TRIED to get across when this thread was being posted (orginally) was that no matter what terms you call them, most folks believe in one way or another.

Spirits, ghosts, entities, even Angels are of the spirit world. So yes, I believe that there are both good and not so good spirits out there.

I've had a couple of "close encounters" with SOMETHING, but couldn't even attempt to tell you what or "who" it was.

I would LOVE to be able to communicate with a certain 4th g-grandfather and ask him a few pointed questions, but heck, he's obviously not up to it!

I never question it when dogs (cats or any creature more natural than a human) sits & look at "nothing", "chuffs" (low, small almost barks) for no reason, growls when there is no clear danger or threat or that decide that they will NOT go into someplace. They've got their reasons and it's anyone's guess as to what those reasons might be.

I am RC and believe in ghosts. Never seen one but definitely felt them near me by my side. They have also sat and stood at the foot of my bed, you can feel the strong presence.

When my daughter was an infant I noticed in many ocassions that she would be looking up from her crib, giggling and waving her hand like someone was standing there playing with her. When she was about 4-5 yrs old she saw a picture of her deceased paternal grandfather and told us he used to visit her when she was a baby.

I am a firm believer in ghosts. I know alot of people who have had encounters and there has been some strange occurances happend in my house. My house is over 100 years old and been in my family for generations. I swear my chi sees things.

One day I was on the computer and he started to bark (which at this time he rarely does) at something in the hallway. He was so freaked out that he ran. There were no people around, mind you, so that was definitely strange. The thing is he is always looking towards the hallway as if he sees something. One time I heard him growling in front of my grandmother's room and I went in there and no one was there. So, yes, I think that dogs see ghosts. Just as long as I don't see them I will be fine,lol.

I just found this sight and wanted someone elses opinion. My mother died this past year and since her death her black lab has started acting differently. Her dog is afraid of thunder storms and has started to sleep in her sewing room when left alone. My mother passed away in January and this behavior started in April. My question is, is it because the dog misses my mother or is my mother still around my father and her dog? Can her dog see her and my father can not? I want someone elses thought s on this.

I have never seen a ghost. I have seen and felt strange things. Even had a evil spirit in my home attaking my daughter.
It's all pretty creepy if you ask me. Even Quiji Boards creep me out. *chills*

The LOGICAL expalination would be that your mom's sewing room is where the two of them spent time together, special quiet time for just the two of them. Her scent is still there as well and it comorts her pup.

Then again, it IS possible that the dog senses her presence in there on another level all together.
