gretellgirl you really need to back off. there is no basis for the things you are spewing. if you would like to speak on something with a little intelligence then maybe research what you are saying and then come back here. i am a christian, a roman catholic, and i take offense to your heresy. it is unfair to have a battle of wits with someone who is unarmed.
Ok, I just signed on today, and boy have been out of the loop. This is just right up my ally. Forgive me but... First of all I am Christian, I do believe in ghosts, have done a lot of extensive research, and have seen a few myself. It runs in my family. My golden and the samoyed I had for 13 years could definately sense things. My pug wouldn't know anything was up if you stood it in front of her face. My grandmother has come to visit my mother on a few occasions, she died before I was born. My husband's mother came to visit him the day before his grandmother died. He woke up and about passed out, woke me up. After she was gone we could smell roses. He was not a believer until that day. My father has contacted me when I was in a time of great stress. There is no doubt in my mind that not only do ghosts exist but animals can see or sense them as well. We here foot steps in our hall when no one is there. The dogs fur will stand up on the back of his neck. It doesn't scare me anymore because I don't believe they are here to hurt us. Mostly I believe that it is someone who is there for a purpose, maybe to tell us something, or warn us of something, or someone who is just "stuck" in the house or where ever. As far as the religion things go, it is people like Gretta, or whatever her name is, that gives Christian people a bad name. Unfortunately, there are many like her, especailly here in the south. Very close minded and hypocrytical. I see it all the time and it has pretty much stopped me from attending church, but I still have my beliefs. Anyone who has done any type of reading or research would know Wiccans are not devil worshipers, Satanists are. If she were a true Christian she would never have responded in the hateful ugly way she did and you don't "not cuss" and they type something like she did on more than one occassion. Stormy, I'm so glad you brought this topic up, it is very interesting to me. Gretta, if you have something civil to say, BRING IT ON!
Gina, she's gone again. Seems anytime someone gives her a direct challange or tries to give her a bit of imformation that might just help her understand how foolish she's sounding~ POOF! like a ghost, she's gone!
"It really depends on your spiritual beliefs. I am Christian, so I don't become haunted by these objects." Chili Pepper, My family is Christian and was haunted for many years (demons we think, which are also interpreted as ghosts). Your faith has nothing to do with what you see. I believe the stronger of a Christian you are, the more you are messed with to try and weaken you.
FrostyGirl, as I'm sure you've surmised from the start of this thread, Stormy asked a very valid and interesting question. Stormy wanted feedback from the posters to see if they had ever had similar experiences with their pets. I THINK the general concensus is YES, Pets Do experience things most of use miss, being more in tune with nature. Then GrettleGirl (perhaps she's out of sort 'cuse she's missing Hansel) decided to begin telling everyone what heathens they are. Then I had the nerve to put in my opinion, experiences and viewpoint That did it! The poor girl popped a gasket and seems to be having a problem trying to express herself without insults or profanity. Each time she is given facts, she simply gets nastier and vanishes. I suspect Heaven is going to be a very lonely place for her..all by herself up there. Hum, seem to have noticed the same trend by her on the Pit thread. "Judge not, least ye' be judged"! THink I've heard those words somewhere before????
I am a firm believer that dogs and cats can see things we can't. Especially when you see your dog standing there staring up at the ceiling and barking at absolutely nothing or following something around that isn't there. I also believe in spirts and things going bump in the night. I've experienced things in my house and in my uncle's house. My husband did not believe me when I told him about some of the things that happened in my house until he experienced them too. These are good spirits in my house so I have no fear.
Boy never a dull moment...I was on the edge of my seat reading...This was the bet thread since the little Red chi thread a few weeks ago. For the record if a newbie has any clout here...I too am christian, am a believer in many things "unknown" and think she(grettelgirl) spoke harshly and it was uncalled for. I dont think personal attacks have any place here...it is a forum to discuss topics...not tear some one to shreads. I would like to thank all the participants who shared personal experences. I am not one much to read so reading and research isnt a hobby of mine. But I do enjoy reading this forum I get a good concensious of what people think ...one end of the spectrum to the other...and that I think is why I remain( or try...to remain ) open minded about many topics. Again...thanks for the good reading...
LOL I'mglad I added some much needed entertainment even though that is not what i was looking for. But, hey what can I say I had a feeling it would end up like this. Everyone has their own opinion and that is what it is about but for people to come in and say comments such as those that were made is uncalled for!! EDIT to add: I have a feeling this post will stick around for awhile! So Enjoy the ride!!! LOL
GrettelGirl I think you have already been asked not to use dirty language, even if you ***, there are several young members we have on here. The last person that said she was a Christian, cussed me out and used words that I have never imagined that would come out of her mouth. However, I just expected something like that she breeds Chihuahuas and has been called a puppy mill. ANyway, please watch your language and lets move on to another subject of our fantastic dogs.
I thought it was a GREAT post. It is very interesting to find out what people believe in and do not believe in. It was not meant to be a "religious" post by all means, But as far as that goes we are all entitled to our own beliefs, but it gives noone the right to come in and judge people for what they do believe in.........and the words coming out of the keyboard of a non-cusser. ( I guess that isnt the same as actually "saying it aloud") which would make her a non-cusser still.........LOL
LOL gbat, I agree 100%. I think it was a great post and just because some people have to be rude instead of just saying they have a different belief. Well, that is really their problem. I love to hear most people's opinions on things like that and the stories that go with them. It's only when people are ugly that I get angry. Not because they have a different opinion. I would venture to guess that most of us feel the same way. Keep coming up with the good questions. It makes it interesting.
Stormy, with all that went on yesterday, I never really DID reply to your original question!
We lived in Pensaclola for 4 years. My husband owned a house moving business and the house we lived in was one he had moved onto 3 acres the family owned. The house had a "colorful" history, of which he failed to tell me in advance. I knew there had been a fire, but that was it. The house had hardwood floors and was up on pilings, several feet off the ground so footsteps would easily be heard.
Our Mixed breed, Bilbo would sit and do the RCA Victrola doggie thing. Stare at nothing, with his head turning from side to side. Looked just as if he were listening to someone, when no one was there. One afternoon, several months later, my daughters and I were lying on the sofa in the living room when heavy footsteps began walking down the long hallway. I got up and literally followed them in a circut through the living room, hallway and kitchen. These were HEAVY steps. No one was home but my daughters and myself, with Bilbo.
Needless to say, I was more than a little frazzled. That afternoon I told my husband what had happened and he informed me that the previous owner of the house had died of a heart attack in the house. Looks like he moved from AL to Pensacola with the house. I guess he took a liking to my youngest daughter.
My daughter (Luna) saw him from time to time after that, wearing (of all things) golf pants. Bilbo still listened to (him ?) every now and then even after we left Pensacola and that house!
Since animals are "pure" in that they don't have human judgement to know what they "should" see and hear, I believe they are far closer to nature than the human species. They are more in tune with the world around them and more in tune with what is of nature and can not be seen by most of us.

I don't know what I think, but I know that I have thought before that the idea of a loved one reincarnating somehow as a beloved pet has comforted me. I have had a closeness with some animals that made me think of those people whom I have lost. I also notice that animals seem to see things we dont and I don't find that odd considering their sense of smell is overwhelming.
hvpretty: I don't like this picture that everyone's painting of me at all!!!!!! I'm not mean, geeez;) However, grettagarbo or whatever is definately one piece of 'christian' work. She runs her mouth more then some of the high school kids I work with and that is not an honour. If I spoke to anyone like that I would be ashamed but maybe that's just because of my atheist (oooh yes I said atheist, not agnostic!!) beliefs. Isn't she supposed to love her neighbour or something? Sheesh, and what on earth does this have to do with psychic dogs?
Carrott, I think that (in this case at least) Hypretty was being complinetary~ thinking perhaps you would have something...ah, amusing to respond to the Xenophobic and ever Christian Miss GrettelGirl. Ya' know, you have to wonder why, if she found the topic upsetting, did she ever enter the thread?
