I am having the hardest time potty training my puggle. Its like she doesn't get it, some days she does better than other but the bad days its like she forgets that outside even exsits! I treat her when she goes potty outside but still nothing. PLEASE HELP! I'm losing my mind!
I have heard that the Pug crossed with a Beagle can be hard to train. Probably the training of every other puppy will work though, consistency, and patience. I wish you luck, it can be very frustrating potty training a dog, especially when you think the dog has got the hang of things, and then a relapse occurs.
My puppy is sorta going through that to. She has her bad days and then her good days...sometimes she'll go a week w/out going in the house, and other times she goes a couple times in one day! Just be patient and be consistent and reward ALOT!
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Phil. 4:13
Ours was 4 1/2 mths old when we rescued him. NOT TRAINED.
Puggles are very stubborn but once they learn they do not forget!!
Rocky was kenneled when we were not home. We took him out immediately after he ate. He would usually pee, we immediately gave him a treat and a lot of praise, come back in the house, play, etc. we would see him start to look around or sniff, and we would put him on the leash take him back out and walk till he pooped. Immediately we would give him a special treat, (we still do only for pooping), praise the heck out of him, etc. finish the walk.
He was trained in two weeks, never had an accident after that. I honestly believe that the whole training thing is vigilance, 24/7 till they are trained. Remember they are like small babies they have no concept of right or wrong.
Once he was trained we enrolled him in obedience classes, he is now 18 months, and an absolute joy to be around. He is loving, usually (finally) only chews what he is supposed to chew, has pretty much stopped the frantic beagle baying, etc.
Puggles are great dogs. Ours was scheduled for a PTS when we got him. They are very very affectionate, they don't just sit next to you, they LEAN into you, he loves everyone and everything. He is outside with the squirrels, they are right next to him, as are the mallards that stop in once in awhile he never bothers anything.
Good luck, it works, just patience, patience, patience, and it will work.
