Hi, my bulldog was just bred two weeks ago. She is having a vaginal discharge with no odor and is white to yellow and thick. Yesterday I took her to the vet and he want to put her on simplicef an antibiotic-just in case she has an infection. At 16.9 white blood cells are normal her count was 17.5. I'm afraid that the pups will be in jeopardy with the antibiotics. She is not wanting to eat in the morning for the last 4 to 5 days, her temp is 102. and everything seems normal for a pregnant bully. The vet up here is not familiar with a lot of the breeding stuff. I live in a little town NO ONE breeds there dog up here he is a surgical doctor and I am comfortable with that for the c-section. Anyway I am torn about the antibiotics. Should I or not? Is it safe for the puppies?
A white to yellow discharge is normal. If she has no temp or other signs of illness, I would personally opt against antibiotics and keep an eye on her. Many types of antibiotics, thouh, are completelysafe to use on pregnant females...what type did he precscribe?
If he felt it was needed and gave something safe, I wouldnt worry.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
