was wantin to get some help on finding out what breed of dog my puppy is.. When we picked him up the lady said he was Great Pyrenees. We didnt really know much about the breed, and when i got home and started some research on him, it quickly be came clear that he is, at the very least, a GP mix. But im stumped as to what other breed he is mixed with? He has the double dew claws, hes 12 weeks and HUGE... but his coat is short and coarse, he has black markings on the face, body, and lighter colored markings on the legs. Tail curles.
Here are the direct linkts to some pictures of him that i posted on photo bucket.
im not seeing pyr in him either. those markings are not pyrenees, more like hound or pointer markings. he is certainly big but if the lady who gave him to you was wrong on the breed, she may be wrong with the age also. i rarely every trust rescue people to properly identify breed/breed mixes. 8 out of 10 times their not even close to being accurate.
irregardless, he is adorable and you love him so thats all that matters
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
well, he still IS young, cause he still has tiny puppy teeth. And then there are the double dew claws which i guess are unique to GP`s?. I dunno though. You guys probably know more about what your talking about than me. :)
without considering the size, i would have marked him as a foxhound border collie mix. but when you see him standing next a person, and you realize we have puppyzila on our hands, I would lean towards something like a greatdane. he doesnt seem to have any of the bulk that you would see in a pyrenees, newf, or saint. but who knows, thats the fun of mutts, they keep you guessing =)
