She is a german shepherd and her name is Heidi! The ride home was rough..She was a little carsick and vomitd a few times..[31.gif"/> She was a little shy when we got her home but she has warmed upto us really fast! Rileys been okay with it too. At first he kinda made sure she knew he was boss and now Heidi is like his annoying little sister.
**I do have a question too! The breeder said he was UKC. So what is the difference between UKC and AKC?**
**My camera battery is completely dead so Ill have pics as soon as it is done charging!**
Bethani, did you ask for OFA certification on the parents, and grand parents? In fact, did they tell you what testing was done, and did they include a clause in their contract that says you must take the puppy to your own vet within 48 hours of purchasing him? If she did'nt, it would be a really good idea to do it anyway. I hope you have a healthy puppy, and I know you will get a lot of enjoyment out of him. Good luck!
The breeders showed us the parents UKC (universal) papers and the dad also had AKC papers. She is up to date on her vaccinations. I think it was a 7 Way they gave her when we picked her up and they gave us the worm medicinethat she is supposed to take every Sunday for the next couple weeks. They told us how to crate and leash train her and all that. They were great breeders! They had beautiful dogs. One dog they had was imported from Germany. They were really intrested in the welfare of the puppies. They also told us alot about Parvo. And told us not to hesitate to call if anything happened. She will be going to the vet in about a week so we can take both her and Riley together because Rileys getting neutered soon.
Thank You! She is an awesome puppy! Im so excited about having a big dog!
ps..they are going to mail us her papers.

I would never buy a pup unless the papers were in hand at time of payment! There isnoreason they should not have the papers to give you upon purchase. Too often people make an excuse for why papers are 'not in yet' when in fact the buyer never receives them and if its not in a written contract that you are to receive them, your out of luck even in court.
Also, what wormer did they give you that is to be given every week? First the pup should have had the wormer process complet before sale, second...I kow of no puppy wormer that is weekly dosing.
Did you get at least a vet certificate for the pup, or were all vaccines 'administered' by them?
By the sounds of it, you didnt receive a written health guarantee...am I understanding that correctly?
The fact that dad was AKC means nothig seeing mom is UniversalKC...which is a useless registry.
I hope through all ofthis the pup is healthy, and no hip issues in the future, I'm not sure it seems they would do anything to help if something happens.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
Most breeders put it in writing that the puppy should be taken to the buyer's vet within 3 days of purchase for an exam . If in that time something is found wrong the pup is to be returned to them with a copy of the vet's findings for a refund or replacement puppy. I would never wait a week to have a new pup checked out by my vet. As a breeder I would also be protected if the pup was injured after the 3 days were up as long as the buyer's vet said the pup was fine within the time limit.
