I was pleasantly suprised to see this. My daughter LOVES the Fancy Nancy book series. And in one book, "Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy," Nancy desperately wants a papillon (because they are "fancy"). They end up going to an animal shelter and adopting a puppy.
wow I think thats great!! i will def be passing that book along to some little girls i know.
on a more personal note The same lesson of adoption can be used with children. In an overpopulated world, i personally couldnt stand the guilt of having my own children, so i plan on adopting =) the lessons we learn from out pets can be translated into human society very easily
