So I noticed today that all of the dogs poop was black. It's all still solid and looks normal other than the color, is this something I should be worried about? They're all four (were watching our friends dog too) eating, drinking, and playing normal and haven't eaten anything unusual. All we did yesterday was spend the day at my grandparents but I take the "kids" over there all the time because they have a fenced in yard and are only 1/4 a mile down the road. I'm going to keep an eye on them but just thought I'd post and see what others opinions are. Thanks!
black stool usually indicates the presence of blood in the stool caused by a number of things one being a bleeding ulcer. the fact that all of them have it is kinda bizarre. if you are concerned about it check with your vet.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Yes I agree with Scout, but black means old blood, not fresh bleeding. Are you sure they did'nt get into anything outside, or did your family maybe slip them some treats? I too would definitely take a stool sample to the vet ASAP. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.
thanks for the reponses I did call the e-vet yesterday and they said that as long as they were still acting normal and eating/drinking fine to just keep an eye on them and that it was more than likely something they ate but if it changed to take them in right away.
