I am really suprised by the dogs and how they were rated in general, but never have I seen the Boxer's Protection rating so low. Granted I agree with the ratings for Watchdog...in general for the breed. But Protection is just not at all accurate.
A Boxer may be distracted when there are no members of the family at home and a burglar slips him a steak and some treats, and the Boxer just made a friend andgave up the family jewels.
But, if an intruder attacks your 7-year old daughter and if you think a 70 pound ball of muscle, police and military dog, a proven protection dog and a bear/bull-baiter, is not going to tear that guy apart...you are dreaming!
Boxer's are one of the most protective dogs with their families, they are strong, loyal, fearless, brave and have matchless courage. They are more than capable of disabling any type of intruder and most dogs.
They still compete in Schutzhund, and they are still used as police and military dogs, especially in Germay and are used as assistance dogs for handicap, because unlike some dogs, like Labradors, Boxers are far more protective and are not afraid of anything, including electronic wheelchairs.
This is a one incredibly innacccurate rating for a Boxer and its Protection ability and it shames the breed and tarnishes the fact of the incredible ability of a Boxer for being protective, tenacious, vigilant, family Guardian and Watchdog. I am shocked and disapointed.
Schipperke's, and Shiba Inu's are very tenacious, strong, alert, incredible watchdog/guard dog, but to tell me that 15 pound dog will protect you better than a 24 inch, 70-80 pound, athletic and incredibly strong, ball of muscle that has been trained to disable armed men and bait bulls against a creepy 200 pound meathead giving you and your daughter a hard time??
Which do you think will intimidate him more and regardless a Boxer will not back down from a threat, I amazed by this rating scale.
Personally I'd feel a whole lot safer with a proven protection dog like a Boxer over a Schipperke, Shiba or a Corgi and I have the greatest respect for these breeds, I plan on adopting a Cardigan in the near future, I love them to death...but a Cardigan will not be able to defend you as well as a Boxer, not that it won't try, they are just not strong enough, and don't have the "fight" drive that is breed in Boxer's from the beginning of the breed's existence.
I strongly feel and suggest that this has to be changed.
LMAO tell that to the 90 lb boxer my 25lb shiba took down at the dog park. Not to dismiss the abilities of the Boxer, but please dont discount those of a Shiba-Inu either. But the biggest difference would be, not that it is necessarily good, the Boxer is more likely to bark and alert the intruder to his presence before biting than the Shiba.
if you click on your breed you will see a tab at the top that says forum. you can start a thread there stating the inaccuracies, just like you do here, just one difference .... in the top right corner there will be a drop down box that says GENERAL if you click that box you will see breed sections. remember to highlight your breed so the thread goes under the breed and not here to the forum.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
I took my breeding post down because of the bad information they give on mini aussies and aussies. I feel it is unperfessional, and I will not advertise on the site. They never even contacted me back after I gave them an email stating fact from fiction. Sorry you wont get my buisness.
