hi everyone,2 weeks ago i had to have my 12 mth old dogs tail lopped as she is a compulsive tail wagger, thus hitting it against everything in sight,it would not stop bleeding, eventually getting infected, the vet has been giving her tail a bandage change every 2-3 days,it is healing slowly,i was wondering if anyone has had the same experience with their dog.she does not lick the bandage, she only wants to lick the tail when the vet is applying the new bandage as naturally it is annoying to her.her breed is mastiff x ridgeback, thank you
In that case, yes it's possible that docking her tail would be a viable option. After she has it done, you will have to put an E-collar on her so that she doesn't lick the nub and it has time to heal. Certainly that's a better option than leaving it as is and risking the chance of a serious infection developing due to the recurring injury
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
