My dogs puppy went to a new home for 2 weeks. It didnt work out with them and they gave her back. They had 2 cats that kept ganging up on her and stuff. So I got her back Wednesday evening. She was her fine usual self untill a few hours ago. She started throwing up. It was thick and formed like the shape of her throat. It was all food. Now she is just laying around and doesnt want to move around. I tryed to give her a peice of my pork loin but she didnt want it. I took her to the water bowl but she didnt want any. Could this just be from her switching foods without easing in? I told them she ate Purina Dog Chow, I just asked them what they fed her and they said Purina One Puppy Chow. Now she is back to eating the Purina Dog Chow. Do you thing that is what is wrong with her? What should I do to make her feel better?
Also, she is 7 months old and under 20 pounds. She also just started her first heat cycle last week.

What breed of dog is this? Purina is not a good food to feed, and if you can manage it, there are far better ones on the market. It sounds like the food was not digested, if it came out in that shape. I would'nt wait much longer to see the vet, she may have an obstruction, or a hundred other different complaints.
well i called the emergency line, they said that I can bring her in tonight or take her to her regular vet first thing in the morning. I am going to let her sleep with me so I can keep an eye on her. And I will take her in first thing in the morning.
I am just wondering why she was allowed to go to a new home without a spay/neuter contract. Espescially since she is a mixed breed puppy. She should have been spayed at 6 months. Has she been fully vaccinated ? If it were my dog, we would have been at the vet. Puppies can become dehydrated quickly. This may sound strange, but get a slice of bread down her. it works for my dogs and myself also. It helps to absorb the acid in their stomach and relieve the nausea. And she needs to get water down her also. Its up to you wether you take her in now, or wait until morning. But by morning, if it turns out it is something serious like parvo or carona virus, tommorrow may be too late to save her.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
First off I would ditch the Purina and buy a premium dog food. With her throwing up I would just try ice chips, rice, or potato (boiled) mashed up. Something starchy sometimes helps to settle their little tummies. If she continues to throw up I would go to the vet for sure. They can dehydrate so fast. Even maybe give her alittle kayro syrup to keep blood sugar up. Sometimes that helps them to start eating. I would not feed her very much at a time though. Hope she feels better soon.
We are going into the vet at 10am, thats about a half hour away. She was a little more herself this morning. She was giving us kisses and moving around a little. She slept with us so I could keep an eye on her. I wake up every little bit to check on her. She didnt get out of bed once all night.
She was only with those people for 2 weeks. So they didnt have time to get her spayed and/or shots. She has been to 2 other homes since January. This time she went to my brothers friend. He would have gotten her fixed if he had her longer, but their cats where gangin up on her and Pepper just acted scared all the time and he didnt think that was a very good life for her to be scared all the time of the cats. So he gave her back, just like I told everyone who took her, if it dont work out, then give her back to me.
She had her first set of puppy shots, she was due for her second a couple of months ago, but they didnt take her to get them. I will get them done today if they think its ok with her not feeling well. Otherwise, I will take her to get them as soon as she is better.
I gave her several serenges full of water and she drank it down good, but she wont drink it out of the bowl, so i have to give it to her or she wont drink.
I herd that if they have parvo that you can smell it. She doesnt have any funny smell.
I really dont understand why these people say she isnt working out. She really is the best puppy I have ever seen. She is not to hyper all the time. She gets playful, but she also like to lay around with you. She is mostly potty trained, she has a few accidents, but not to many as long as she is let outside plenty. I really want her to go to someone I know so that i can check on her and make sure she is doing good and stuff. But I dont have anyone else to take her. So I might just keep her. Our city limit is 4 dogs, and we already have 4, so Pepper will make 5. Hopefully we wont get caught and have to give her up anyway. cause that would really suck.
What kindof food do you think is good for them? I have 5 dogs. They all eat Purina Dog Chow right now. I have Cocker Spanial/Poodle that will be 10 in September. I have a Huskey that is around 8 probably. I have a Yorkie that is about 4 or 5, I have a Min Pin that is about 3 or 4. And I have the 7 month old puppy. I free feed them all. I just leave full bowls of food out and they eat when they want. I cant spend a whole lot of money on food, but I can spend a little more than what I do now. Is Iams good? or Science Diet? or what?
She's been to 2 other homes since January?!!! That poor pup-I can't even imagine being that young and to be shuffled around from house to house like that. Sounds like you need to do a better job of screening owners as well as researching dog food.
The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.
Ok. So I took her into the vet and they said she seems fine except for she was a little dehydrated. And she had a bit of a crusty nose, so they swabbed it and tested it and she has a sinus infectin. She did Not have a fever and her belly wasnt tender. So they gave her a few shots and gave her some fluids under her skin. Its wierd, cause now she has a huge fluid bubble on her back, the doctor said it will do down over about 24 hours. and he gave me some canned food to start her on tonight and some meds for her nausia and nose infection. So hopefully she will start getting better now.
Yeah I really dont like doing this to her. But I thought she would be fine where she was. First she went to my brother in law, they have 2 little girls, one of them just started crawling so Pepper thinks she can go play with her. And they have another dog that she played with and they got to rough around the baby. My brotherin laws wifes mom lives right next to them, and they would play with Pepper and take her to thier house to visit and stuff. So then they took the dog. Then she got tired of the puppy stuff, so they gave her back to me. Then I let my brothers friend have her. He is a real nice guy and Pepper liked him and his girl. But their cats wouldnt stop cornering her and ganging up on her and She was just scared all the time. So he didnt think that was a good way for her to live. Now She is back with me. I think I am going to keep her now, as long as my husband lets me. We already have 4 dogs, so we are at the legal limit, now we have 5 dogs with Pepper. I just wish I could find her a good home with people that wont give up on her or get tired of her. She isnt even a bad dog, she is a really good puppy. Better than most puppies I have seen and/or had. I feel bad for her. I really do. I really just want to keep her cause I know I will take good care of her. I just spend $150 at the vet on all that stuff.
This just sounds like a very unfortunate collection of irresponsible people, who did'nt really care much about this dog. Considering her different owners, and some of the treatment she received it's not much of a surprise that she is'nt at her best. What breed is she? In order to get her back to a happy healthy puppy, she needs consistency, good food, water and lots of TLC. I hope you give her what she deserves, or find someone who won't give up on her so easily.
How did you come upon getting this dog? Was she a rescue? Normally miniature breeds are delicate and need special care and diets. The Xolo needs to have special care as far as temperature, heat, cold. They're hyper nervous little dogs especially around other dogs and small kids. Maybe that along with the wrong diet is why she is sick. I doubt that it could be a sinus infection. Maybe upper respiratory infection from other dogs.
Maybe it would be in the dog's best interest to find an adult only family without so many dogs that can give her all the attention she needs and can give her a better diet. $150 is just a drop in the bucket as far as health care goes. She needs to be spayed as soon as her cycle is done. You can do it now, but it usually cost a little more.
Poor little dog. She need some consistency in her life.
She is a Miniature Pinscher and Xolo mix. We got the Min Pin from some people that were giving her away. They said she might or might not be pregnant, and if she is, the dad is a Xolo. Turns out she was. She had 2 puppies. One has been in the same home since she left here. I wish they would take Pepper too. But she dont want another dog.
These puppies are great around kids and other dogs. Pepper's sister, Sox, is at a home with 4 kids from ages 4-13. They are not really petite, they are built more like the Xolo. My brother in law brought Pepper over to Sox's house all the time. Sox is with my mother in law. They have been around other dogs lots, they love to play. They are not highstrung or nervous. Sox is a bit hyper, but its good cause she has 4 kids to play with. Pepper is more calm than Sox. Always has been. They have their own personalities.
The doctor said she has an infection in her sinus rhino something. That is what he said.
I plan on keeping her. Hopefully my husband wont press the issue to find her a new home. I alway give her plenty of love. and so does her momma, they play and play and play.
Pepper was starting to feel better Friday night. She got up and was running around a little bit and she accually drank from the bowl and she ate a little. But Saturday she stopped doing all that and went back to laying around and not eating or drinking. She doesnt even want to drink from the serenge like she did before. I gave her her morning 2 pills and it sayed down. but I gave her her evening 2 pills inside a tiny bit of food and washed it down with a little water, and hour or so later she threw up the water and lite traces of the pills, just some white smears, no pill fragmants. And then this morning she threw up some yellow kinda foamy stuff which I guess is bile. My poor doggy. I wish she would get better. I'm so worried about her. I guess I will be taking her back to the vet again.
