Hi, I'm getting a English Bull-Dog. She is now 7 weeks old and has went to get a vet check. The breeder is a good friend of mine. She called me and told me that. She said that the vet said that she will need surgrey within 2 months. She said she will not sell me her, but will give her to me, but I will have to get the surgrey done. Should I get her??? PLEASE Let me know!!! She has another female, but I like this one and my son like the other one.
Honestly even if she is your friend, bulldogs have a lot of health problems. I'd never accept one that had a known health problem, personally. A luxating patella in a dog that is going to be weighing 50 lbs, and it's already noticeable at 7 weeks, that's a HUGE deal... by the time that dog is full grown and is putting serious weight on the bad knee, well I forsee the potential for you to be sinking literally thousands of dollars into her vet care, and possibly more than one surgery.
No way you should take the dog, even for free.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
Alot of it depends on if you have the money and time to spend on the dog. If she is giving you the pup, and you can take care of it, I would personally do it. It can be expensive, and just becuase the dog has surgery now, doesn't mean they won't need it again. I have a client that spent over $3000 on her toy poodle to have both knees replaced. The pup will also need tons of cage rest which can be really taxing on you and the pup. Arthritis can set in very early, and other medications may be needed. The pup also may not live to its full life expectancy if they are in a lot of pain as they get older. It is a big decision, so think about very carefully. If nothing else talk to your own vet and get educated before making the decison. Sorry about the bad spelling folks.
