Check your shelter. I know ours always has several. Esp. now that it is spring alot of kids get easter bunnies and then give them up quickly. That was were I started and I am still in the thinking process. I am slightly allergic to them as with anything. I keep going back petting and holding them to make sure the reaction doesn't get worse then I will probably get one from there. I know my shelter typically has some great ones, and really pretty also. Most need a little love and attention, but will make great pets. Check it out
They list bunnies from all over the States that are looking for new homes. Most are already spayed or neutered and evaluated as to temperment.
Rabbits are great pets, but if you keep them indoors, remember that they chew. Their front teeth keep growing throughout their lifetime and they will chew the oddest things in a home, including electrical cords and telephone cords.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.
Check out the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Rabbits have breed clubs just like dogs. I love Holland Lops and found several great breeders through the TX Holland Lop Society. You should go to a rabbit show.
It's accually pretty easy to find a responsible, local rabbit breeder, and on top of that, Mini-Lops are very popular. But I do have to disagree a little bit with one of the other posts. It's usually pretty hard to find a rabbit an an Animal Shelter. But anywho, I would recomend a Chestnut Aoguti colered one. I had one a while back and she was a great mother and was easiler maintained. Her coat didn't get as dirty as fast as a white ones would! But a black one might also be a good choice, however, they tend to "tan" in the sun. Their coat sometimes turn orange-ish. But ya totaly go for it! My sister has two MiniLops for sale currently but i dought that helped any! :) -Rosie
