Hi everyone, the puppies are doing great, opening their eyes this week and starting to learn what their legs are for. the vet told me i should get purina puppie chow and mix it with some formula in a blender to make a mush, thickening it up as they get use to it. Does anyone have any other ideas as well? They are two and a half weeks now and I was advised to start this next week.
You should PM Pen2 to get a recipe for formula,it works great.I dont think you should mush the food in to it though. Do formula and then wet food (kibble soaked in warm water)slowly add less water untill they can eat regular kibble without the water softening it.
I personally don't start feeding my mini aussie pups till they are 4 or 5 wks old. I see no reason the start earlier, they should still be solely on moms milk so they can develop correctly. You should also feed the best food you can find no matter when you start. Purina has gotten horrible ratings, I wouldn't touch it with 10ft pole. I feed Innova which I know is expensive, but it is great food. The dogs/puppies get what they need and it gets a great rating.
