Today I was walking Lexis and as usual when I am in a neighborhood with one of my dogs people always rush to pet them and go on and on about how nice my pit bulls are and blah blah blah well today a group of people were surrounding us and a lady says does anyone want a yorkie he is UKC registered but he is to big to breed with my female because she is only 3 pounds.Looking at the group of people volenteering to take it I had to speak up and I ended up with the dog. He is 1 year old his name is Zuess and he has the longest nails I have ever seen.I know where to clip my dogs nails because they are 2 different colors but his are all black and I am scared to cut them. He is the sweetest thing. I do not have the time to keep up with his hair so I am cutting it,does anyone have a suggestion on a cute cut? Also the inside of his mouth is black,is it suppose to be?
I guess I am gonna get the puppy cut.The kids love him. I took him out on a leash and he was hopping around running up my leg he definately has never been on a leash. He likes the cat.I think I am gonna try to re-home him but im not in a rush so I can find a great home for him.
Hi Imunique, I read your story about your yorkie. Do you still have him? If you do, i have a suggestion about his nails. After research & talking to my vet, i too have yorkies. They are wonderful, loyal pets. Smart as a whip! O.K. the nails. Yes, the black nails on yorkies can be a little daunting. The best way i have found to clip their nails is to look for the natural curve on the nail. Cut @ an angle just below the curve. That is the safest way i had found to clip without cutting into the quick. If you make a mistake, & their is some bleeding, it will stop shortly after pressure is applied. In the words of my vet, he won't bleed to death. There is also a pen on the market for instantly stopping any bleeding. It's called, by one name "styptic". Hope this helps. Signed, Yorkswon
