The contractor I hired botched the job in my apartment and I am beginning a series of official complaints (and possibly lawsuits) against him. However, he has informed me that he has taken pictures of my apartment ("his work") and is using it as advertising to get more business. (I'm not sure how he could have photoshopped those pictures to make them good, but whatever).
I don't want him to use my apartment pictures in this way because I feel like he's using them to misrepresent himself and his work. Does he legally need my permission to show those pictures or not? Does anyone know of any laws or codes that state one or the other?
I really don't know. I do know that Google Maps Street View is in the process of putting pictures of everybody's residence on the internet and that appears to be legal. Maybe it's different if it's used for advertising purposes? Especially since you say he's misrepresenting his work.
And when you say "apartment," does that mean you're renting it, so it's actually owned by someone else? If so, maybe your landlord would have a say.
